Hi there,

to keep you up to date: I was at my dealer and wanted to buy a 661 CM VW. Yesterday he got a new, unused 660 from an inheritance. The price for the 661 was 1300€, the 660 was at 800€.
After ample consideration i picked the 660.

I think the 500 € differentiated the 661 not justify.

Thanks for your advice. I just need to buy a normal handle.

Same question, with a 20" bar I would likely not choose a powerhead larger than a 460/461? In fact, none of my 046/460s run less than 24".

I ran a 20" on me tree90 once..
Kinda scary holdn on to that puppydog.
That thing would eat you b4 you knew what happened.
24" Is as short as I like to go on a 90cc saw

Well, if your used to hauling a 576 around, it won't be much different.

Good buy on the 660. Heads up I would take the 661, but not with the price difference. Looks like a real clean saw.

Mustangmike, you don't like the 576? Its the same weight than the 460 but a mutch smoother AV System.

I use a 20" on a 90cc now and then for blocking small firewood but don't like the feel of it.
If I'm going to cut a truck load of wood from one tree i don't see how a saw That's 1lb lighter is going to help me.
If I'm bent over cutting I'll take the fastest saw I have everytime.
If I can cut the same load faster and be bent over less then I'm winning.

Also if you only use a 90cc saw its hard to use a smaller one.
If I reach over the side of the truck and grab a 044/046 or a 066 they feel no different.

I weighed a wrap 460 and my wrap 064 hybrid and the 92cc 064 was a couple ounces lighter, needless to say my 460 is on a shelf collecting dust and will stay there.

A 460 is a saw that I don't see the reason for,it's heavy enough that you may as well use a bigger saw.

Stihl needs 1 70cc and a new mid 80cc saw.

441 and a new 651 at 82-85cc in a more compact package than a 661,hold less gas and oil than a 661.

Nice snag there. I've never seen a 20" stihl light bar. I thought the smallest light bar that stihl made was 25" or 28"? I'll have to check that out.

They are good running, and smooth saws (like a 661), but they are heavy for their size. I believe the 460s are (powerhead) 14.75 lbs, and the 576 (autotune version) about 15.25.

Jason, it depends on the situation. If you have to climb over logs and through the brush and "reach" now & then, the weight makes a big difference. If you have heavy equipment setting up the logs for you to buck, I'll take the faster/heavier saw every time.

I don't know what your wrap handle weights, but my info is that a 660 is in the 16 lb range, a 064 in the 15 lb range, and a 460 in the high 14 lb range. Who would not pick an 064 over a 460 that is heavier.

I'm really looking forward to getting my 044/046-D hybrid. The power of a ported 460/576 in a 14 lb powerhead! :-) Hard to beat!

Hi,

i'm not sure whats the deal with this wrap handle. Okay, it looks cool and you feel like a cool US West Coast Faller ... but i will buy a normal one.

If you buy your 461 and 576 with heatet handle, the weight is the same. But, your 044/046 sounds cool. Less weight is always good.

October 2017 the new 462 will be realesed. There was 2 prototyp saws at the forestshools. 73ccm at 6,2kg and 6PS.

I posted pics of them on the scale but don't have it now.
I do know that both were oem 3/4 wrap with the big clutch cover and 066 dogs on both.
The 064 and 460 were 15lb with the 064 a touch lighter and a 441 setup the same was 16 something lbs.
066 setup the same was 17lb.

With a 20" my 034 super will whoop a stock 460 handily so I don't see the point of one.
