Really, folks. I don't see the sense in modifying a stock saw just to get it to run. If it were me, I'd drop a tree on that saw, ship the pieces to Husqvarna with a nice note, and head to the dealer for a 572xp. Problem solved.
I agree with this. They are dropping the ball on updating the 562. They updated the 550MK2 and 572 to be heat resistant.... why not the 562??? Makes no sense.

I'm with ya, but I can't seem to get it out of the shop long enough to do that ;)

Maybe the market has shrunk for 60cc saws given the popularity of the 50-70cc 2-saw plan. As we know, the 1-saw plan is out the window the first time a tree sits back on the bar. With the 550MK2 putting out 4 hp and the 572xp's improved fuel economy, who is finding the need for a 60 cc saw?

What's more, port a 550MK2 and you've got an in-tree light saber.

I started this tread June 1, 2020, with a brand spanking new saw (built this year), and hot start issues.
Today is July 19th.
I've cut about 1/2 to 3/4 cord each day in June.
Temps consistently in the 80's to low 90's.

The hot start issue is gone.
The saw was not modified.

What was modified was how I start the saw

... which includes keeping it, the saw, and fuel, out of direct sun when not running,
...setting high idle,
...not using the decompression
which is similar to what Catman posted (#103) about using full throttle when starting.IMG_3298.jpgIMG_3297.jpgIMG_3296.jpgIMG_3299.jpg

I bought one when hlsupply had that sale back in april/may. I follow the manual for starting. Decomp and choke till it pops cold. Push choke down to fast idle, 2-3 pulls it starts. When hot no decomp (don't seem to make much of a difference tho w/ decomp) set it to high idle and starts on 2nd pull.
Once I got the saw I took it easy for a tank then cut cookies from a 3' willow oak log for almost a full tank. I haven't had any issues w/ my 562. Anybody else tho they end up flooding it trying to start it.

I saw a lot

Mid 80's here today. Ran about a tank through my 562xp (24" bar). Got low on fuel so let it shut down. I refueled but no start. Primer, high idle was how I was trying. Took a break for around 30 minutes still no start. Went ahead and chocked it, it would sputter but stop when I touched the trigger. Tried a few more times but same thing. Not a big deal and it could very well be my bad. Finished with the 365sp and called it a day. Never bother with the de-compression.

I cut/split a cord yesterday, and again today, but the temp was only 75° and a nice breeze.
No issues.
Running an 18" bar.

One thing I forgot to mention was someones suggestion to let it idle for a few seconds before shutting it off, which I now do.
I'm also using 'recreation fuel' or non ethanal fuel for mixing, which is a lower octane.
I think premium retards ignition so it does not pre-ignite in high compression engines. I hope I got that right. Anyway, non ethanal.

I have another window this weekend to try this. It wasnt hot enough on sunday to get a bad hot start.

I let mine idle today between cuts. Only shut it down because it was booging and acted like it was low on mix. I use 91 octane e-free 36 to 1, also pump a couple gallons in the truck first to rinse out the hose. Saw didn't seem all that hot so surprised it acted up. Need to do some more reading on it.

The mod seemed to work. It was 25C no wind and she was worked hard. Let it sit for 8 minutes to get some vapour lock going, but she fired right up on high idle.

I tried multiple times, i was cutting firewood in half and then quartering it with a milling chain instead of splitting it with an axe. So if theres a good way to stress test a saw this is it.

handle was barely even warm on the outside of the tape.
More time is needed, ive jumped the gun before thinking all is well when it was indeed not. I would encourage others to try

Thanks for the update @kneedeepinsaws . Very interested in your findings as I love the 562 but would be nice if I could refuel it and start it again. Should not be too much to ask.

I really don't think the 2 saw plan is any more or less popular than it ever was really, there's plenty of 1 saw owner's .. I'm sure they have other reason's for not updating the 562.

Maybe it's a financial thing..

So the dealer I talked to today doesn’t recommend using anything but 50-1 in these saws. Says that’s what they were designed for and too much oil is not a good thing sometimes. He’s sold a lot of these saws to Hydro crews the last several years and never had any issues.

Maybe I will try some canned fuel next time. Thank you for the advise.

I run 40 to 1 and haven’t had an issue even with mine idle for a year or more at a time. I really believe it’s in how it’s ran and broken in.

Yea i hear ya but honestly most of us have to make due with what we got.
At least in the OP’s situation he has the option of getting something else :)

in terms of mix ratio the dealer will always tell you 50:1, they have been trained and brainwashed into thinking that anything less or more will void the warranty. In fact i think it does lol

i personally use 40:1 maxima k2 on every saw i own even the weed eater. Some people here use 32:1 and there is no Direct evidence that using 32, 40 or 50:1 causes adverse harm to the engine.
People will pull apart Blown engines and say “yep shes got no oil and i told ya, 50:1 is just not enough”
Same thing with 40;1, this time the story is that it was too lean for the engine.

if i were the original poster with his experience I would run that saw at the manufacturers specs, 50:1 until the warranty runs out.
Dont give the dealer or husky any reason to deny you warranty if a break down pccurs
