Open Question.....
Do any of you use the 70-80% of the aria of the cylinder exhaust exit to give you the size of the hole or combined holes in the muffler?

Yep. .

I've opened up several to much larger than exhaust port size. They just rip! My 460 has 3 large ports, my 372, 365, and 390 all have the original port opened up to about max, as well as the front exit! Fast and loud!!

This is just the 365 and 390xp. .

So for baffle on the inside is it best to cut is out completely or just open it up with bigger/more holes?

Baffles are for the bin!

Here is my 066 triple port mod

WP_20160430_17_34_02_Pro.jpg

I also opened up the other side all the way and the front cover has had its opening over doubled.

Its loud but it also goes like stink

Now all I need is a machined jug to hold the Husky 288 piston I have sitting on the bench.

I cant wait!!!!!!

If you want performance, cut the baffle out and put it in the bin where it belongs.

You will need to use hearing protection.
Really you need hearing protection when using any saw.

It will go better but be much louder.

My saws all have their mufflers gutted and opened right up but I always use quality hearing protection.

I have kept a stock muffler for my 066 for if I ever have to use it where noise is an issue because they are wall rattling loud in performance mode once gutted.

But I like that

I try to keep my muffler mods looking stock or with just a added deflector.

This one you wouldnt know it from stock if you didnt look under oem deflector.

Baffle removed and exit opened.
