Hi folks.
I have ported a 6 month old MS880 for a friend, fitted a larger 088 intake boot and a larger Tillotson HT12 carb.

With the stock coil the saw ran well but just sat there bouncing of the coils limiter.

@Mastermind suggested fitting an unlimited 361 coil which I have just done and now she runs like a sick dog.

I figure it's a timing issue but am unsure which way to go.

It is really sluggish off idle like a bad rich bog and runs really rough, sounds like an old diesel with the headers off.

I'm think it's way retarded as it starts really easy.

Has anyone done this mod before?
Any idea on how much che may need to be moved?

I have no clue on ignition timing, but possible bad coil? Although I'm sure you've checked already.

Are the 880 and 361 flywheels a different outside diameter? Just wondering if the magnets / keyway would be positioned differently due to smaller circumference, or any other reason.
If anyone had the two to compare that might tell something, if they are X degrees off, that may be a starting point to find a position that works.
Or maybe I'm way off?

I'd be tempted to advance it a few degrees at a time without a timing light, it can only get better surely! And should get you somewhere near. If it works you may just be onto something!!

Awesome work!! You gonna take it any further with the advance or are you happy at that?

Well it started easy enough warm when I was setting it but I cant crank it cold.
It just snaps the decomp shut and near breaks my fingers every time.

Going to have to play with the timing some more to get it right.
