I think I'll give him one of the 262xp's I'm going to build. I think it's a good all around saw and his brother has bigger saws if needed.

I have plenty of things to donate to the cause and I can even probably buy a raffle ticket for that 262 if that's what ends up happening!

I'll go look to see what I can do for a raffle item.

Just to be clear the 262XP I've offered up is a donation to give to Dan's friend to replace the saw Dan plans to auction. It is not for raffle tickets or anything but we can certainly take donations of other items for raffle! Dan wants to sell his friend's 460 to get some funds together and thought it would be nice to replace the saw with a 262 so he has some kind of a saw. I've just decided to make that happen as I don't need this particular 262 since I've got two others :) This 262 may just need a coil to be all set -- it currently runs but wasn't quite perfect. It's a got a lot of new parts and should be a great stand in for the void that will be formed when that 460 gets sold. Hoping to hand deliver the saw to Dan tomorrow so we can get her work ready. She's had some minor port work, base gasket delete, squish set, seals, carb kit, not sure what else. Fella I bought it from thought maybe it needs a coil to be perfect. Might need a clutch needle bearing which I have one on hand. Should be nice!

Cheers.

The plastic part on the carb inlet could spin on the brass -- not super loose, but I don't think it should be able to move at all. I had an extra '87 walbro brand new inlet and pulled the old one and pressed in a new one -- nice and tight like it should be now. Before doing that I ran the saw and it was up and down on RPMs at idle (maybe sucking gas, then air, then gas) or something.

I just ran it again w/o a bar with the changed fuel inlet and it seems a little different so fuel delivery may have been part of it.
I'm going to go put a bar on it (I'm done w/ the nuts falling off!) and don't want the clutch to go for a ride ;)

This saw has some nice bark to it -- strong compression I'll check that out later. But man does it feel good.

If I can't get her to run right with the changed fuel inlet I'll see what Dan and I can figure out tomorrow if Dan has some time to mess with it when I deliver the saw.
Once this thing is dialed in she's gonna be sweet. She just feels strong. Should be a fun runner.

Cheers.

Got it! Richened it up about 1/4 turn on the H (it came from Minnesota to Mass so elevation change I'm only at 300' above sea level) and I was able to turn the idle down now as it's stable at idle. She's rippin really well. I made a few cuts in some really hard norway maple that been sitting forever and I can lean on it quite well. Lifted it during the cuts and still goes up to a 4 cycle but got a bit lean on the 5th cut so I richened it a bit more and it's now holding well after several more cuts. I think the low needle needs to be dialed in and this thing will be ready to go. Might need some break in too.

I picked this saw up a couple of weeks ago from @Johnmn for a great deal since it wasn't perfect but it's a bit rare saw being a KS87 so I was willing to pay being a buyer that knows the saw's worth a little premium. I really don't need the saw and now it's going to serve a higher purpose to find a home at Dan's buddy's place. If all goes as planned I'll hand deliver to Dan tomorrow and now I think we can enjoy running it a bit and get her dialed in for east coast elevation. I think the coil is fine -- it seems to be firing spot on whether 4 cycling or the short lean bursts when I was tuning no misfires.

I took some video of installing the brand new genuine walbro fuel inlet for HDA87 as I think the technique to remove the old one and install the new one is quick and makes it easy if anyone has to do a similar job and you don't want to deal with removing the carb. Excited to hand the saw off -- here's the video:

Cheers Gentlemen!

I'll install the top end, pay for shipping from you to me, and I'll get it to Dans ........ if you want. Up to you
