just a few short years ago, all the hype was to lighten the piston to get better throttle response. now we have saws with much heaver pistons with world record breaking throttle response.

I imagine the light crank and short stroke helps, but also think the symphony of port timing, and engine timing and air fuel ratio being controlled by computer gives it a great advantage. What ever they did, it works.
