No doubt , this is primarily an enthusiast forum so if its not a pro saw its automatically junk ... i know a guy who runs a service that buys nothing but 250s for the ground guys simply because they are cheap and they work just fine..when they get dropped/abused/smashed he isnt out big bucks.
When I saw what the ground crews around us look like I would stick with the cheaper saws!

I think 50:1 is probably fine for nominal operations, but when something goes wrong the richer mixes help guard against damage. I think most recently that was the case with my 10 mm 044 when the pto crank seal went bad. Or a recent 026 purchase where the the flywheel crank seal had been "repaired" with RTV red by the previous owner. Nice of him to neglect to mention it. It held for a month or so.

Purely anecdotal your mileage may vary.
Have you thought about trying a well done 026?

They're miserly on fuel and are lighter than one would think. I'm not sure on the 241, but my 026 seems lighter and is smaller than a 261.

Randy builds a mean 026.

If you wanna run a 32" bar and cut big logs the 026 has an advantage over a 241...it ends there.

You wanna cut wood in the 10-12 inch range its a wash as far as cut times go and the 241 still retains its obvious advantages over an 026/260....i ran one of randys 026s with 230 lbs of compression...its nothin id brag about , he does other models way better.

I dig old saws for the nostalgia but by the time you buy one worth the effort (200-300 bucks) have it all gone through with bearings and seals replaced and whatever else it needs to make it a reliable daily worker then ported you have alot of money into an old saw..and its still an old saw with a lousy air filter...cool for a hobby guy....poor investment for a guy that makes money with it.

Perspective i guess.

I'm no Einstein here, but if the man liked the 241 stock, he'll love the 241 ported! Is that fair to state?
Or maybe he needs a small Hoosky?

If ported saws are your thing...sure.

MOST people arent into ported saws...idk if this guy is or not...does he wanna have around 800 clams into a 40cc saw ?

He can chime in and answer that.

I agree with that and is the reason why im not into older saws. Redoing/rebuilding old saws is like putting a model together. You feel great when its done, you dont want to get it dirty and your left saying " now what"? Lolol. I still enjoy fixing saws or any small engine equipment.... i think I enjoying fixing them more than I like using them lol.

MS241's rock!!! Great decision!!! I feel that the ms241 is the commercial grade version of the ms250.... eventhough the 2 saws are way different. We use quite a few ms250's where I work and they get the job done for us.

Maybe. Like Ryan said, not everyone likes ported saws. I Do!
Just try not to give an opinion based on something you have not experienced. Too many guys repeat what they hear as gospel, and it can get very confusing. I've done it myself Jeff. Then I find out later, what I thought I knew cuz someone said it, was bad info. Essentially Ive misled others and it just gets worse as others repeat it. I've started to post a lot less, if you haven't noticed. Just share what your own experiences are and it will be better for the entire site.
I'm not picking on you, your a good guy. But the trap is easy to fall into cuz we are passionate about saws and want to help.

I knew i liked you dan...jeff seems like a guy with good intentions.

Top handles - 60cc saws are my department..ive put a TON of hours on them hence i have a presence in this thread...when it comes to other things i dont have a clue and dont really participate , just read.

There's entirely too many guys that talk out their ass on these forums and repeat what they hear.

If i havent done it myself..i say nothing about it.
