Do you consider the MS250's disposable? Due to their initial cost factors.
Are you running. 325 or 3/8?

Well I am the guy that won't throw a good safety chain away....I hear all the time,"I would throw that junk away and get a pro chain", I always say send them to me LOL....

Back to your question, for me, nothing is really throw away....I have rebuilt more ms250 than any other saw made....I am not in the tree business full-time, and I work alone....hell i don't like other people looking at my saws let alone picking them up...if I did have employees, YES 100% they would be rigged with a ms250 for general purpose.....

I wish I was filthy rich, I would buy a coulentree crews 2-ms250 and 2-ms241 and have them report back.....I would like to see the results of that experiment....as our friend @Frogfarmer knows, people just don't give a *s-word about someone else tools!!!!

Now there is no question here about which saw is built better, it's a question of MONEY.....if both saws are getting 1 or 2-years use on average, it's a no brainer...

Here is the rig I use, just got a shipment of 4-combos in the mail...I usually buy 8-or more at a time.....It's a killer combo....it's the 16" AO74 Stihl mount...

Some 250s make it a couple years in the tree biz...so when their time is up from natural causes i guess you got your moneys worth and leave em' for parts if you so desire..swapping them to picco really makes em scoot.

People say pro saws last longer..im not sure if thats true or not..depends on the owner i guess.

If i had more money than brains id buy pro saws for hired help..but im kinda short on both.
Thats the nub of it right there IMO....your point about...."Depends on the Owner" .Some folks are brutal with there tools.. pro saw or not if they bust it up to the point of a uneconomic repair they get left broken .
How much a pro V semi pro saw can take is maybe also down to how the saw is used and maintained i bet. Ether can last well or die a early death given some situations and treatment i guess.

How do those hold up compared to a stihl bar? I run a stihl 200t 14 inch bar on my echo and I like the orange bar you posted

I'm gonna come back to this thread one more time then let it die.

To all those that recommend an MS 250. You guys have a point and this photo proves it.

The 241 is 3 days old, I go away for a little while with instructions left to clear brush and here are the chainsaw tools and I return to this.

Do they own a saw? If so tell them youl pay them 5 bucks a day if they bring it and use it. Bet they change how they maintain a saw real fast

I have wondered how they will hold up, over time.....

I have no doubt got my money's worth, but I am interested to see how long she holds up...thanks for heads up!!!

I dont care what title the saw has when it gets smashed..its still smashed...and if its a pro saw your checking account is more smashed over a cheaper saw.

Im more on the user end as opposed to the wrenchin end but other than being easier to rebuild im not sure how a pro saw lasts longer..the piston goes up and down just the same..i guess one of the wrenchers can fill me in on that.

What's your engine of choice for the 250s? Farmertec?
I use AM Pistons, and the Stihl jug....

I am still pissed about breaking the coil ground screw off in a damn farmertec cylinder, they have know about the issue for years!!!!

See the thing is the "better construction" of the pro saws never has time to prove itself when they are never cleaned, thrown around, fuel mixed wrong, and smashed by falling trees!!!
