While the new light MS261 version is attractive, the MS241 for its intended purpose is hard to beat on fuel efficiency. I don't care about how much fuel I burn, but I do care about how much work I can do per tank....the 241 is good in this area. A 50cc saw can be 'too much saw' in small stuff. I'd sell your 241 as a cheap fixer to someone & buy a new one for yourself.

I though about doing that but i could not justify the cost. I got the husky for $400.00 with the bar and chain. The price i got for a 241 was about $549.00 and i would have to buy another bar and chain to get what i wanted.

I rather buy MS 241 instead of Husky 543, and this comes from a Husky guy!
It would been different if Husky still produced 242, that was a great light weight saw ;)

Why not go for the new MS 261 MTronic or the new light MS 241?
Who are you and what did you do with Tor?

Light weight and control are what I need, so I would not go larger. And I know the 241 is the lightest in its class. So sanity will likely win out and I will probably just buy another one.

I had an ms 250 before the 241 and got 4 years out of it.
Hate to be mr. Obvious here, if the ms250 did all the same work, cost less, and lasted longer, without a doubt go buy 2-right now!!!

Out of my own curiosity, did the 241 feel like it had more power than you ms250???

I hate to admit i kinda agree with that...ive had a slew of 250s.

250s dont get no love , they rip pretty good with a muffler mod and timing bump.

241s feel like they have more power..im sure thats subjective though.

I had a 250 in my shop recently. I was surprised with that saw.

I too have rebuilt a lot of ms250, know them front, back, and side to side....it just kills me people down them....just like @sawmikaze said they are great with just a muff mod, (I don't even mess with timing on them), but I would like to try it, (feel free to give me your recipe @sawmikaze if ya want to LOL)....

I have seen these ms250 that have been ran and ran with hardly any maintenance and they take it like a champ....I actually have one that my dad bought me new 6-7 years ago...that saw has made me more money than my others combined I would say.....it's the saw I throw in the truck if I have a quick or dirty job and the 18" is big enough to get it done!!!!

Also to me these saws are very simple to work on....the only thing that is even remotely difficult is threading the rubber intake boot threw the handle housing, and if you use string it's actually not that bad!!!!

You didnt mention it, but just throwing it out there. Maybe change your mix to 40:1 or 32:1 to better lube the saw if it is used that hard professionally.
I'd just rebuild the 241 you have and maybe grab another one. The new Mtronic 241's are real strong.
Not worth switching brands if you are all set up with Stihl already with bars and chains.

Try the next @ 50:1 lol my 241 was bought in December of 14 and we've absolutely ran the crap out of it. the ground guys like the dolmar 421 better though because of its kill switch. When you have to flip it back up a thousand times a day it can get old.

I have ordered a new 241. It will be in next week. It is a business expense after all. I had just thought of maybe a different saw to mix things up. But it wasn't a surprise that people are saying to stick with Stihl in this class.
