Epoxy that intake and make it as wide as you can.
See how it goes. Then like Mike was saying, raise ex in steps to find it's happy place..
Also, running .325 on a 20" bar is for smoothness in limbing, operator's convenience, and reach. Not speed for sure. The design sucks the power out of a saw, as it wallows in it's own debris, so it's hard to really narrow down improvements.
I like my 500P, but it sure ain't a speed demon.
Seems you got good torque gains out of victim #1 though.
Let's see some rpm's out of #2!
Well work up to it for sure. I would prefer to see what I can get without epoxy and then epoxy the one that's mine for final gains. :)

Did you mean 501sx troll?

Carl looks like you got a little more play on this build over here than @ FHC. I'd be interested to see how echo squeezed the extra ponies out of that 501sx. Wonder of its got a flat top piston in it.

Yes, 501SX.

Not much to add yet boys. Saw 2 is going back together but I need a little better baseline of were the gains are coming from. So thus saw I took .035" off the base. I didn't touch the intake yet. 110/128/86 is were it sits and I added a dual port. When It's going together now to test against saw 1 then based on that I will tear it down and play somemore.

Ok guys for some results to talk about. Now remember saw 1 has more fuel threw it than 2. Saw 2 is still on tank 1 so it'll hinder the results a tad. But saw 1 is defiantly the stronger 1. Saw 2 is holding roughly 10800 in the cut. Saw 2 is 11300. So almost 500 more rpm. Saw 2 is running a tad more comp. It came in at 200.

Difference!
Saw 1- 110/125/85 195 comp, exhaust the same 65%, intake widened

Saw 2- 110/128/86 200 comp, stock intake, dual port so it's at roughly 80% now and sounds better. Lol.

Big changes- 3 ° more blowdown, 25% more exhaust outlet, and stock intake.
I only took .005" more off the base on saw 2.

So........now it's time to fill the intake and widen it.
Or is it time to take the exhaust higher? This saw has to have the potential for 12k in the cut. I just gotta find it. Neither saw is lacking for torque. But saw 1 definatly dosnt bog as easy. But I'm hoping part of that is saw 1 has more tanks of fuel.

I think 128 is way too low on the transfers......
I agree. I was really just trying to see were I got the gains on the first saw. So give me you opinion. Remember saw 1 is mine so if I go backwards for the sake of finding gains it's no big deal. Saw 2 is a customers so it's the important one. So should I epoxy saw 1 up and and set it at the width I have it now but grind it square to 75° or try raising one of the 2 to 105/123/? ;)

I would raise the transfers without doing any other mods. Go to 125......and if you see gains........then go a couple more degrees.

Saw 1 is at 125. Lol. But with the 110 exhaust. That's why I'm at the cross roads. I really wanna get this thing up to a 105-107 exhaust. But them again. I don't wanna kill it either. ; )
