For being only 36cc's I thought it did very well. We definitely pushed it further than what it's intended for, but if this was my only saw I wouldn't hesitate using it like this. We swapped chains to a 63ps, and like on every other saw, it made a nice difference.
One thing I noticed is that the chain brake trips very easily. I kept tripping it by accident with my wrist watch.
I'm no expert on pistons and cylinders, but it looks extremely well made. Everything is very clean, and looks very nicely machined and cast. Little to no casting flash anywhere. It looks like someone cared how it was made.
There was a couple of times I could tell it got stronger as we went along. All of a sudden you could feel a small bump in torque.

6100 is like that, i think its the reeds limbering up and working a little more freely so this probably isnt any different and might even be worse since it has 2 sets to break in

pushing the poor little saw above its intended target but still looks like its performing pretty well.

@Anthony Webb sent you a PM.

Yes...That's what needed cut up. Actually a lot of what we cut yesterday was 8" and less. And I wanted to see how it performed working not just cutting cookies. Also I wanted to get a few tanks through her before any mods. I don't want any false gains from it breaking in.

It's definitely stingy on oil while cutting the bigger stuff, but like you said it's really not intended for that.

It's definitely punching above its size! Like Sondre says I wouldn't be afraid to use it like this on occasion if that's all I had, which I think says a lot for a bone stock 36cc saw.

I know it's a completely different beast, but it reminds me of my 421 when it was stock. It ran well, cut well for its class, but was kind of "meh" feeling. Not saying it was not a nice saw because it was, I just was expecting more.

I hope (and I think you will) you find the gains that @Red97 got out of my 421 or more with this setup. I just wish I could get more out of the stock coil on the 421. However, I really enjoy running it much more. No more "meh." Come think of it though, my dad has enjoyed it more than me and has far more tanks through it than me. The easy start is a godsend for him.

Speaking of 421...
Here is a comparison of a muffler modded 421 vs bone stock 3601. Same square ground 63ps bar and chain

I know my 6100 was gaining power and performance for well over 20 tanks. Longest/slowest break in ever. The 421 is a great sounding saw that is a joy to cut with. I would love to see more side by side stuff between the 3601 and 421

Just checked the M&D Mower catalogue of Zama carbs and parts - https://www.m-and-d.com/pdfs/zama/C1Q_PARTS_LIST.pdf

The C1Q will go up to a 14mm venturi. I'll have to check my metering springs, there is one particular spring that is very strong and long that is made for stationary engines. I found it useful when tuning engines. When you get around to tuning the 3601 carb, I expect that that if that metering spring won't richen up the low speed circuit enough, then you will likely have to drill one of the transition holes a bit larger.

Hey guys I am thinking about putting the captive nut clutch cover from across the pond on a 3601. Does it look possible by the IPL @fordf150 @166
What are your thoughts?

Do you have one Corey? I'm actually impressed with the tool less cover on mine. It works well and feels like it will hold up. Time will tell...

Ya the local dealer is getting one in for me. Giving me a good deal of I do a video review he can put on his website.
Will put it side by side with my 421. Should be interesting. At least for me. Lol
