I’d moveI love lever actions, sadly we can’t use them for deer here. So my Marlin 30A in 30-30 just sits.
There a line through the state. The southern half is restricted to Shotguns with slugs, and muzzleloaders. The northern half can use any legal rifle (.220 cal centerfire and larger). I’m unfortunately in the southern half..You got one of those straight wall only restrictions?

Yes. My muzzleloader is a CVA Optima V2. I like it.That sux. Can you use any kind of gun that loads from the muzzle? There are some really high performance inlines these days.
Center fire, not rimfire Matt.
MN legislature has voted a few times over the last several years trying to remove the limitations for the southern half of the state - so far it hasn’t passed. I’m hopeful it will sooner than later after the recent elections. After all, we can coyote hunt without a license, and with high powered rifles, any day of the year. So why are we limited on deer, is the question..Nice gun. My caseless front loading centerfire is a Traditions Pursuit Pro and it is definitely capable of more accuracy and power than I can take advantage of. Ohio and Indiana finally saw the light and allow straightwall cartridges for deer so mebbe that will be an option for you someday.

We can still use any “legal” pistol as well, including handguns chambered in rifle cartridges. I’m just not into that. Before Ohio legalized straight wall rifle cartridges, a lot of guys would put a full length bottleneck rifle cartridge barrel on an Encore pistol frame since the regs on handgun cartridges hadn't been updated in forever. When straight wall cartridges were legalized they made the standards the same for rifles and handguns, doing away with the loophole.
The Savage 220 bolt shotgun is very popular here. There used to be shotgun only zones in WI, then pistols were allowed in those areas also. ( me ,Savage striker ln 308) But I also have one of the Savage 12 ga bolt action full rifled barrel units. Very accurate particularly with my hand loads and cast slugs .( traditional rifle stock not a shotgun stock)
There’s a lot of 20 ga slug guns around. And up here, typically everyone starts on a 20, and eventually grows into a 12. The 12 gauge rifled slug just busts brush so much better. Our woods are thick here, and sometimes waiting for a perfectly clear shot is not possible. My big gripe about slug guns is that nearly all of them are 12 gauge. Deer aren't armor plated, a 20 kills just as dead and is much easier on the shoulder!
What caliber is your High Wall?
