Thinning/grinding the rivet heads does a lot reducing drag on chains sharpened back to triangle shaped teeth.
But that is just my non racer opinion.

Hi. I have tryed both kinds of chains, with and without dog bone and the cutting speed was the same. I focus on the cutters and try to make them super sharp.

Hi. The chain at page 36 i made my self. But the last one on page 40 is made of a friend of me. Square grinding and hand filed for consistens and super sharp.
