Work in progress. Started out with a 60 DL loop of 72CL. This is what 5 hours of progress with round and flat files looks like. Another 7-8 hours and it should be good enough. Sure hope it doesn’t suck.View attachment 198261
I started taking short cuts, power tools help.

That’s on the to do list for today. I like to file in stages. I did as much as I could yesterday with a 7/32 round file. Now I need to switch to a smaller file and keep going.

I’m close to being done with files now. I’m hoping today I can implement my bench grinder and a few 1” cut off discs.

I use a 6” grinder with .045” wheels to cut the back of the cutter and front of the raker off knocks a couple hours off that way.

I do the same and then go over almost the entire chain with a sanding disc to get rid of any sharpe corners and smooth things out some more.
I like a flappy wheel on my flex shaft. Get's hit with 2 grits. In my mind, if the chain does rub against wood, it'll be smooth and minimal friction.

My first race chain, for my Husqvarna 272 on methanol and nitro. What do you think good or bad? Have look at pictures and read on the net and try to learn how to make a race chain and square file. Only roundfile on work chains in Sweden.
