I've been wanting to try those 3 point ones. I bought a set a few weeks back for a 395 I plan to put on the g395 as I've already bent the chinesium ones.
I just put them on my 550 , there’s my 262 to compare in pics .Don’t think it would be much of an issue to do .

The original ring is stuck in the piston and I can't get it out to weigh just the piston but I suspect it's significantly lighter than the meteor. After a fair amount of grinding on the meteor piston and even the pin I managed to make the whole setup a bit lighter than the OEM.

Believe it or not, the meteor piston for the 262 is 1 gram lighter than the oem piston.

Unsure why the 87 are noted to be hard to tune. It’s probably because they are just old carbs with some inner restrictions that aren’t apparent when rekitting them.

The 198 conversion works very well and has the same bore as the coveted 87. You need a 120 donor carb to do the conversion. The 144 can be used, but one needs to open the slot on the choke shaft. I still want to try the 199 conversion. The acc pump might really make the already good throttle response even better.

The build looks great Shaun. When youre in the jug you can see why they are a factory hot rod. Those factory dual spikes, I’ll never understand that. A head scratcher for sure.

I have a kit in route to put in the carb so we'll see what I find in there. Maybe I'll try a 199 conversion in the future if I don't like the way this 87 runs.

These look interesting. They have the larger 2 series look to them!

Tempted, but shipping from NZ will take a while.

I'll say, "looks" like 268/272 spikes with extra holes added so it will fit.

It's always important to check the gaskets, the carb side needs just a tiny trim.

And the AM gasket supplied in the kit for the cylinder side isn't going to work at all! The impulse is in the wrong spot.

You can see that the air injection was a late addition in the design since the case is rounded to provide airflow to they cylinder and they had to make this block off plate. Install this plate with the taper head screws and a little red Loctite, you don't want these screws coming loose behind the flywheel.

Don't forget the tall rubber seal behind the oil pump, in a pinch you can use a chunk of fuel line. Since these bolts are through to the case we'll put a dab of the red Loctite to seal them up.

If you find yourself with an extra small o-ring... don't freak out. It goes in this recess behind the bar pad cover to seal the oil tank vent to the cover.
