I'm not a fan of the double ear clips that come with the Meteor piston. In the past I've nipped the one side ear off leaving just a little bit of the turn inward and then shortened the ear on the other side to the minimum amount needed to get on it with some needle nose pliers. Still they have less contact in the clip boss than the OEM.

The wire diameter are the same so I'll be reusing the OEM clips.

So the HDA 87 is much larger than the 120. People say they can run a little wonky and are hard to tune. I suspect it has to do with the venturi size compared to the choke bore, there isn't much of a restriction to create a good low pressure region in the venturi. Here is the 87 compared to the 120, it's much larger even to the eye.

By thinning the choke shaft and trimming the butterfly screw we can increase the area and flow through the choke bore hopefully making the venturi more efficient.

I don't really trust the metal crank seals to seal well in the plastic as there isn't much press so I'll give it a real light coat of 3 bond. Then knock it in till it seats with a crank installer tool.

For the PTO side just knock it in flush with the case with a 19mm deep socket, don't forget to put a little oil on the seal lip.

I'll reuse the original o-ring behind the flywheel side seal carrier and give it a light coat of 3 bond to make sure it seals well. Also I'll put a little 3 bond on the screws since they are through holes to the case.

I don't want a chance of the base gasket ever tearing out and plugging the impulse hole so I'll nip the gasket that isn't compressed. Also I noticed after the machine work the cut out for the impulse was a little shallow so I ground it a little deeper.

Does anyone know of a good dual spike option for these saws? The stock one's seem a little wimpy.

Wonder if ya can adapt, the WCS 550xp dogs possibility, they’re pretty rad .

I've been wanting to try those 3 point ones. I bought a set a few weeks back for a 395 I plan to put on the g395 as I've already bent the chinesium ones.

These look interesting. They have the larger 2 series look to them!

Tempted, but shipping from NZ will take a while.
