Since the hand guards for the 70's vintage saws are hard to come by, I took the parts from a 621 that I have in the shop and put them on the 80. They are very experienced but work pretty well on this experienced saw.
I’ve got two 50 cc saws set up with 3/8 on a 16” bar and I like em that way. A Dolmar 5105 and a Jonsered 2252. If the saw will pull it, I like 3/8 chain.
We also went through the 520SP today to prepare it for the display. I will have to say, compared to the 49SP this one is a lot more Semi and a lot less Pro...
The 520SP was dirty, but did have spark and adequate compression.
I should have taken a few more photos as we had this one down as far as the cylinder and spacer block off so I could replace the impulse line. The red silicone line just wasn't going to work out.
New fuel line, vent line, and impulse line. I went through the carburetor to be sure all was in order, in the end the 520SP is working as it should.
I realized as I was finishing up it is missing the brake handle and some bits under the clutch cover.
bucketoguts - this one is equipped with an 8T .325 sprocket and of course .325 pitch chain. I have not investigated much on these smaller Jonsereds saws but I haven't seen any full 3/8 pitch sprocket nose bar to fit, only 3/8 LP and .325.
