will it be the same line offered in Jonsered now? 2252/53,2258/60,2166/72 & 2188

Pretty much, but not sure it will be all of them. I kind of wonder about them doing the 2188. Especially since that chassis is due to be replaced with the 592 or whatever it's going to be called.

When can I get a 572XP?

Okaaay... so evidently, Redmax is going to take over the pro side of Jonsered, and Jonny will remain as a consumer brand. I can live with that, although I don't see much left for Redmax other than the odd Redmax user who happens to need a saw and hasn't swallowed the orange and creamsicle Kool Aid. Stihl and Husky eat as much as they like of the pro market, then Echo and Dolmar/Makita descend like starving vultures to pick over the carcass. Not much meat on the bones after that!

So the new Jred line up will be a 2238 2245 2250. Thats what I'll bet on as thats what my local Menards was carrying.

If they are going to go strictly consumer, that sounds like a pretty good lineup that most non-pro users would be happy with. Most folks who want something over 50cc are probably going to be looking at a pro or semi-pro saw anyway. If I had to make do with only two saws, it would be a lightweight 30-36cc and a quality 50cc. Like, my Poulan 2150 and Dolmar 5105 or my Echo CS-3000 and Jonny 2150.

Got some more info and this is totally confirmed.

And it's the pro saws, not the homeowner stuff. Only plastic saw will be the top handle T-435.

But here's a head scratcher for ya: TSC will still get the consumer Jonsered saws, and that's where the clamshell models will be.
what a shame, JRed will be recognized as a low quality brand.

Them RedMax's, will they be produced in US or Sweeden, and what type front handle bar will they be dressed with,?

im all for redmax getting built up after the screwing Husqvarna gave them when they bought them a few years ago.
they had a solid saw line but Husqvarna wasn't going to have it
example: right before they got bought this was one hell of a saw for the money.

Seems backwards to me. You would think they would use Redmax as the consumer line and Jonsered for the pro saws. Most people would want the saw to say Jonsered on it, I would assume, if paying pro saw $$$. Just my opinion.

Most people don't really care what names on it , it's the price that sells it just like everything else these days .

That's how I would do it, have a small line of Redmax saws for those already using the brand and leave Jonny for the pro cutters and saw nerds. Echo rebrands some of theirs as Shindaiwa for this reason. In any event, the Jonny consumer saws seem quite competent and being sold at a large retail chain helps.

I would blame the slow sales at TSC on in-house competition more than anything else. Most people shopping for a saw at TSC aren't going to spend well north of $350.00 on a Jonsered 2250 when the $200.00 Poulan 5020 will probably serve them just as well. Our TSC's also sold the Cub Cadet line for awhile.

Spoked with my local JRed dealer today who also sell Huskies, huge changes in Norway from 2018.

Husqvarna has decided to set JRed loose from the normal dealer system, ie, JRed will be sold by no dealer networks also.

I asked my dealer if they would continue to sell both brands, and he said no, thing is as he said, if they sold both brands they would also have to do waranty work for JRed, they have no interest of doing waranty cases for other shops like Maxbo and Jernia.

JRed is a rock solid brand in Norway, but this is the start of the end for JRed as a quality brand here.

Wow, over there also? I thought this was mostly a US only thing. Looks like it's a global deal for Jonsered. Sticking Red Max decals on the saws may be the US only part of what they are doing.

You raised another interesting point: Who's going to be doing warranty work on the saws sold at the box stores? There really isn't going to be any Jonsered dealers after this transition. That will have to be handled the same as the Poulan stuff is and through the Husky dealer network.

One reason I won't do the Red Max saws is that I absolutely hate having to re-tell a story over and over. Especially one like this. I'm not going to explain 100's of times what happened to Jonsered, who and what Red Max is, and most galling of all, why there are still Jonsered labeled saws at TSC.

I'm actually going to dump the saws I have in stock, and when they're gone that's it. I'll post the price list a little later this morning if anyone's interested. Some are already spoken for. but we have a few dozen saws in stock.

The jonsered only dealers are the ones getting the shaft the worst. Tryig to sell loggers Redmax since there's no Jonsered is going to be tough or they'll have to try husky.

You gonna post those saws here or in the classified adds?

Yes, most of them will be left with nothing to sell, or anything that anyone will want to buy.

We all gotta remember that this isn't just about saws. It's about two equipment brands, one of which is strong in some segments, and one that isn't really strong in anything anymore. There really isn't much of an expectation that the Jonsered dealer base will do very much, if anything, with the Red Max saws. They would like to see some saw sales within the Red Max dealer network. But sad as it is to say, the Jonsered dealer network doesn't appear to matter to them at all.

I get it from a business standpoint but I think they'll drive more people to Stihl in the saw market that way.
