the front half of that hole is not threaded, only the back half is, past where he had the nut
Yeah, I saw that. But the threads are stripped where it is tapped. So, to my question, do you think it has enough meat to put a timesert in it without compromising the cylinder wall?

ive been able to put helicoils in and I think it would be easier to do timeserts, I have also taped them out to 6mm. the locktite that stihl uses seems to be the cause of them stripping. threads come out the first time I take them apart.

is there something wrong with my work that keeps people from sending saws to me?

Until you came to the gtg at my place and I spent some time talking with you, I assumed you were super busy porting saws. Perhaps others are confused as I was. As far as your work, I have yet to see any issues with it, and you certainly build some strong saws!

I was under the same impression as Dan, Scott. I thought you were up to your elbows in work.
I've got two Makitas with new 79cc top ends. How about doing one of them for me?
Everyone needs a TM saw. Hell, I already have a t-shirt with your name on it. I need a saw to go with it.
