Dose the wrap handle make any difference? Such as stiffer av springs or stronger oil pump. Or is that all myth

The oil pump isn't different on the 462. It is on the 461 though. AV mounts are different, clutch cover....different.

Untwist the exhaust port?

No. I do widen it though.

It does on the MS461R & MS660R.

The newer saws have different pumps entirely & are springly/ floppy with longer bars.

This saw is a strong contender to be my next. I’ve been hoping to hear some more input from the more clever folks on here. As I don’t know much about your craft, Just enjoy the outcome. Heck I’m fairly certain it involves sprinkling magic. But I’d like to hear anything you’ve got to mention good or bad.
or if there’s anything you’ve learned now that it’s been on the market for a couple years.

The newest version has a strengthened bar pad area. Its useable with up to a 36" bar according to Stihl.

Aside from that, I'm not aware of any notable changes.

Personally, the MS462 is probably my favorite newer saw.

Call me Bias... or an a-hole... either way I second that. My 462 has become my favorite/go-to for anything saw.

Double or triple layer (I like triple) of those disposable blue gloves (Harbor Freight specials) can help a bunch on the slivers problem.
Just keep a box of them close by and some Dollar Store baby powder to help get a new one on when the outer one rips.

Maybe add a pair of those white knit gloves over things if you're really wrestling with the sharp stuff.
Like filing a chain.

Diggin steel out of my hands is no problem.

My issue is walking into the shop with flip flops on.
The shavings fall onto the flip flops then under the foot and into them.
Then i have to assemble an assortment of sharp pointy things, tweezers, magnets, lights, reading glasses, maybe some rope to pull the foot close enough to my old ass to see the splinter.
Then when you get the light right and your head the right distance away to focus grab the right tool to dig the offending splinter out before getting a cramp or passing out.

I put shoes on for welding i guess i could put em on for grinding too.
