Customer Message a couple weeks later:
hi guys
i ordered a a piston kit for a customer saw the one sent is husk 350 kit factory #hs 35044 well it is .030. to small the # of the saw is a husk 350 967 01 18-00
03.2204173 husk AB my piston is 1.770 the one i was sent is 1.740
so what up with this .please look in to it and give a answer .
(I thought he meant his piston was .03mm too small when I responded to him)
Dave Message same day:
that is within the usual tolerances for these parts, the rings actually make the seal to the cylinder
go ahead and install it and I believe it will be fine, if not, let me know and I can take care of it
thanks
Dave
Customer Message a week later:
there is no comp and it is not .003 it is .30 way to small
Dave Message same day:
I will refund the piston, are you measuring in mm or inches?
pistons are specified in mm
are you saying it is 3/10 of an inch too small?
I am just trying to figure out if the wrong part got packed or if your saw isn't a 44mm model
thanks
Dave
Customer included two pictures with his Message a little later:
the piston is 37 thousands to small please take one out of the box and mike it up. the first pix is your piston @1.732 the next is mine 1.769 out of a 350 husq. #967 01 18-00 03.2264173 thanks
Customer 2nd Message a few hours after first message:
if you look at the pictures your piston and is smaller than the one I need you have it exactly backwards u sent me a 43 mmi need a44 mm read the mic. Are u a mechanic or a desk person if so please pass it on to some one that knows how to read a mic. I need a piston bige not a smaller again thanks
Dave Message the next morning:
1.731 inches is 43.96mm (44mm piston which is what you ordered and I sent you and as labeled on the box)
1.796 inches is 44.9326mm (45mm piston is not what you ordered, but it IS what you need)
YOU NEED A 45mm PISTON NOT A 44mm PISTON
YOU ORDERED THE WRONG SIZE AND SENT ME THE PICTURE TO PROVE IT!!
I can read a mic.
All chainsaws since the Mid 1970s are metric size cylinder and piston.
If you don't have a metric mic just pop your SAE measurement in google and ask for a conversion to mm.
There is more than one size of piston for the 350, which is why the measurement is included in the title line.
Searching ebay for the Husqvarna 353 piston will likely pull up more results for the piston you need.
To return the wrong piston you ordered, simply start a return in Ebay and select "wrong size, doesn't fit" as the reason and then send the piston back and we will issue a refund as per our refund policy (80%)
thanks

I spend a couple hours a day answering questions like this, usually after they have the wrong part in hand
