Harlan Findlay sold Duroc Boars (Breeding stock) for his lifetime and there are so many stories to tell 'bout him but that will be a different day. My Little brother (not so little really) worked for him as a kid so he was pretty good at catching pigs. When he was 13 or 14 he entered the county fair greased pig contest. Right off he gives a lil piggy an ankle in the bread basket and picks it up and hands it to a judge who is shocked at his method and told him You can't do that.. Sam said the rules never said not to. Then he literally walked over to another LiL piggy and snagged it on the run and handed it to a different judge who had no Idea what to do with it, He still got first place. He said he had to be that quick to beat Harlans' hog dog when they were working hogs . Harlan raised his Durocs on the dirt for healthier hips and joints etc. so it was wild work. Years later Harlan gets a new pup to work hogs and well that was the surprise to all of us He named it SAM. so many Memories.. Harlan was a different kind of guy and was a very good friend of our family. I have seen pictures of his daughters (twins) riding hogs, (they are my classmates) but you will never see me on a four legged hog. Harlan never rented his pigs either,, He sold them :p.
