I ran a tank in the 550xp today...first cutting this season on a large storm-dropped maple. The LPX in .325 always keeps me smiling. It's smooth, fast and low cost. Is there any better?
It's smooth, fast and easy to sharpen. Cost varies with where you live, it's half way between stihl and Carlton in price for me.
It's probably the easiest to dull, especially if you run an 8 pin.
My 550 wasn't any faster than my oe346 with a 7 pin 325, but gained speed with 8 pin 325, or 7 pin 3/8.
I find it hard to run anything but 3/8 on the 550 as it pulls it so well (just some light mods, no pro port job).
I'll have to time the ports one day and make a thread to get the clever fellas to chime in. It does seem like a particularly good example, and setting the squish and cleaning up the dags in the transfers only made it stronger.Yes that 550xp pulled 3/8" well
Picco rims on a husky isn't easy, some people swear a normal 3/8 rim is fine, I'm not happy with it myself.Rs .325 63 gauge does fine on a 50 cc saw like that if u rwally wanna see improvement run a cannon super mini 3/8 50 gauge picco and picco rim on stihl ps chain that really walks the dog thats what i run on my 026
Ammicks in NC has 20LPX66/22LPX67 for 13.99/14.99, plus I get one or two day turn-around. Anyplace cheaper on the east coast? It's smooth, fast and easy to sharpen. Cost varies with where you live, it's half way between stihl and Carlton in price for me.
