I ran a tank in the 550xp today...first cutting this season on a large storm-dropped maple. The LPX in .325 always keeps me smiling. It's smooth, fast and low cost. Is there any better?

It's good chain I wouldn't say the carlton is as smooth but I like it better than the rest. Stihl rs is pretty good after you get the first sharpening or three out of them. The rs is awful outta the box to me. After you file it back some I like it pretty well I use it on a 346 so results would be in the same ball park

It's smooth, fast and easy to sharpen. Cost varies with where you live, it's half way between stihl and Carlton in price for me.
It's probably the easiest to dull, especially if you run an 8 pin.

My 550 wasn't any faster than my oe346 with a 7 pin 325, but gained speed with 8 pin 325, or 7 pin 3/8.
I find it hard to run anything but 3/8 on the 550 as it pulls it so well (just some light mods, no pro port job).

Picco rims on a husky isn't easy, some people swear a normal 3/8 rim is fine, I'm not happy with it myself.

A stock 550 346NE 545 all pull 3/8 way better with 16" in hardwoods or whatever IMO. If they got balls at all.

Ammicks in NC has 20LPX66/22LPX67 for 13.99/14.99, plus I get one or two day turn-around. Anyplace cheaper on the east coast?

Sorta depends how often you need chain. If you're patient e bay can have deals. I'm kinda stocked at the moment so I haven't really looked I've paid more than that sounds like a cheap enough deal And you've dealt with before
