Is The MS500i A Good Saw?

Got a well used MS500i on the bench to go over...nothing really wrong with it, just taking a look.

It could use a plug wire, and is missing a screw out of the bottom of the muffler.

That's the worst of it.....

Almost 15,000 RPM for 143 hours....they definitely know how to take care of their saw. No issues with carbon build up on the spark arrestor?

That means the highest RPM (14895) was achieved at the 143:26:57 mark.

Two screws, and a twist of the top cover fastener with a scrench, and here we are.

We ported it when it was new in the box.

Replaced spark lead with OEM piece.



The saw has been in a battle or two it appears.

Not the muffler we installed. The owner said it was replaced when the fins got busted. No carbon at all.

I'd say! Looks like it threw.a chain? That or the hit that broke the fins also caught the clutch cover? I'd say it won the battles. Looks pretty good for having 500 hours on her.

Multiple users have been running it too. It ain't had an easy life.

He uses an oil I've never heard of Tim. Mixes it at 44:1 with 90 octane rec gas.

Can't remember the name of the oil.
