is STIHL the only one doing 4-mix and how does that make more power than 2-stroke?

So you got a lemon that happens in all brands. It sucks but the 800 seems nice and my 600 is the first version still runs well. I like the high torque low noise of the 4-mix.

I had one of the first 90R trimmers that came out. I didn't like that it was either idling or wide open. There was really no in between. It was also heavier than an equivalent 2-stroke. I later got a FS11RX and it had more throttle control but I still don't like the 4-mix. I'm glad you do like yours though.

Guess I’ve never seen a point to run a saw, leaf blower or trimmer at anything but wide open or idle but to each their own. I don’t run my fs 56 2-mix or my br 350 2-mix at anything other than wide open while working or idle between spots because that’s how they were made to run.

When you're trimming and there's windows 2 ft off the ground, or you're trimming around vehicles, you definitely don't want to run that thing wide open.

I get folks who tell me this about skidsteers and CTL's all the time. My question: Why is the throttle 'adjustable' if they are meant to run wfo all the time?

Only Stihl's i own. Bought a 600 and a km110r back in the mid 2000's or so and used for 10 years commercial use only problems with trimmer was a few throttle cables. Not one problem with blower that I still use almost daily to blow sawdust offen sawmill at the end of the Day.(might take 2 minutes).It only gets warmed up twice a year doing yard work or when burning a brush pile. Adjusted valves In trimmer I think once. At the time of purchase I had a jonsered trimmer that i wasn't happy with for the application. Just my experience with the 4mix.

Yeah, I can't speak to the BR800 issues, but I'm telling you my KM131 purrs. And it's easier to start dead cold than 2-cycle engines imo. And they're relatively quiet. That said, I understand why people don't like them with occasional valve adjustments. I can only speak to my experience, and it's been great so far.

I still love the sound of a screaming 2 cycle though. I used to envy the go-karter's who raced them. I was in the 4 stroke class. Klotz and methanol!
