Here is my new toy. Doesn't seem to need much to get it going again.

What does the p41H signify on this saw? Not finding much in my research.

Just picked up an IEL Pioneer hl.
For free! It turns over but the starter is seized. Shouldn't be too hard to get it running. There sure is a lot of extra metal on these old beasts.

Edit- fixed the starter! Needed some lube and coaxing. It has spark! On to the carb. Diaphragms are original so hard as, need new ones. Any tips for the rest of the carb? I'm used to newer ones. Not much wear on this saw. Might have been a homeowner firewood saw so in pretty good shape aside from the paint.

My 650 still refuses to run. I have narrowed down the problem ti the carb by switching carbs with a Dolmar CC 116: With the Dolmar's carb, the 650 runs immediately an the CC doesn't when equipped with the 650's carb.

This is the HL-281 from my CC attached to the 650

At the beginning, the carb wouldn't even pump fuel from the tank but I somehow managed to fix that. Now fuel comes as far as into the metering chamber but doesn't make it into the venturi. I have sonic-cleaned the carb 2 times and then even boiled it for half an hour in dish-cleaner detergent.

I assume now the idle discharge ports are clogged but I wait to remove the welsh plug until an ordered repair kit arrives.

I went to the, Son Ranch, Near Grand Forks B.C. Yesterday a very interesting place for checking out logging and chainsaw history. Probably over 1,000 saws there I was told. Not all on display but there's lots to see. It's operated by wonderful people. You can check it out on Facebook or the Web.
Mike Acres was there and gave me a personal tour. We talked about different chainsaws for over an hour. He's setting up a workshop so he can still work on some saws. It was a wonderful day. Highly recommended for anyone suffering from CAD

Mike is just a very fine guy. I talked to him on the phone a few times years ago when I had acquired part of an old Pioneer/Partner dealership and had about 4,000 new old stock parts in boxes. I sent him some stuff for the museum. I want to get up there and visit it one of these days.
