FWIW,

My MS360 made more power than my 036. But there was an airfilter issue with it. It has no bridges. If the dyno figures were accurate, no bridges and angled uppers exceeded my expectations.

I see it possibly changing flow direction, but I also see it creating a hemi-open transfer. Open transfers historically make less power than closed.

Did you ever get this saw finished? Just curious how it turned out and if the bridge ports made a big difference. I'm gonna do my 361 next. I have a am cylinder I was thinking of putting bridge ports in that way I don't have to mess up my oem cylinder. [emoji4] [emoji4]
I just re read your post. As dr.f posted above, ms361 is a different animal, more like a husky with a cylinder extension and quad ports. I thought you said ms360. Don't follow these #'s. My 361 has quite a bit more blow down than the 036. I'd guess smaller case and smaller xfers lead to less xfer timing.

I'll do some research, and have a good look at things before I start. That's what I usually do before I start hacking away. I'll get some numbers tonight hopefully. If I stay awake.

Ran Al's 360 at the CT GTG. I believe there are videos of it. Very Strong Saw!!!! I also like the way he did my 460/046-D, and that one has bridge ports (and a build thread on here).

I'm not sure what's going on with this one. Seems like a dud so far. Haven't had time yet to go back in and look for more.

Saw looks good to me on the video Kevin.

If it's nothing special next to the stock 034S, that's another story.

I use a medium Red97 deflector on the fly side of mine and I open the PTO side stock opening up some too.

Did you advance the timing?

If the saw is running the OEM flocked filter, you're SOL. Darn thing is really restrictive. Make a custom metal back and or get an OEM Nylon for the back half. It makes a difference.

My 360 is a pretty saw and I like it, but I'm gonna have to sell it because there are just too many saws here. I made a custom metal back half for mine. I figure the nylon for cutting and the metal for racing.

Here's what happened with me and air filter changes on the MS360. Again, assuming the Dyno figures are correct, my saw gained suprisingly with a swap to nylon and unbelievably with no air filter.

Here's where I got really aggravated at the 360. OEM flocked air filter and brand spanking new.

Adding the nylon back half made me jump up to 6.5, just like the 036.

I saw some of those in the dyno thread. Impressive. I've noticed the apparent gains with a less restricted air filter. This 036 filter looks like my 026 filter . I'm headed out in a little bit to tear back into it. I'll get it

IMO, on my Stihl 044s, the new HD-2 filters made a huge difference, especially in conjunction with the dp muff cover.

When an 026 tunes out to 15k with a new flocked filter, and you remove the filter and they tune at 17k, yeah it definitely makes a difference.

I've tested airfilters a bunch and for the HD style nothing comes close to what the aftermarket ones from hl supply flow.
Blow through your hd2 filters with your mouth.

Why aren't you running them?

How do you blow through a pleated filter with your mouth?
