The one in the middle is like my new one from Husqvarna. I thought that disk would go on that little Stihl driver too, not so.

Yes, never just quite right.
If i have agro i may do a fix.. Was thinking ....open out the hole and put a rubber insert with a groove around the outside to take the disk thickness and with a hole in the middle that you need to push the screwdriver through so it grips it a bit.

Stihl must make a driver that goes to it, just have to figure out which one.
Iv been looking to ..need to see the disk for size though. Having the ability to put all different carb screw drivers through the disc ....for example ..DD, splined as well as the slot head got me thinking for a ..OPE fix :D

Just wondering why the disc is necessary?
What Im led to believe is it helps to get a more readable carb jet position for initial adjustment and being able to return to any given position with a good degree of accuracy.

Iv tried it Niko..i just dont have the knack as not had any successes. I much prefer the tool and a air wrench used without a piston stop (not a fan of them myself) ...pull start off (comes off for a clean anyhow) ..a short Berrrrrrrrrr on low power and that usually sorts it.

I've never had any problems with it, nor has my very experienced dealer/tech.

The tools are made and designed by the saw manufacturers to do the job of taking off the clutch and they work very well. There are always other ways of doing things, if your happy with them and they give you no trouble then thats fine. I personally choose to do it using a makers tool . :)

I've done it both ways whatever gets 'er done at the time, then again I am a Gemini, have two ways for everything LOL.
S type clutches are the worst as just about any way you try to take it off, can distort them it seems.

Good show Simon. I saw that and ran right out to the shop and slipped the disk on my new Husqvarna driver, fit perfectly. Hope the Saw Gods don't look down at me for making a bastardized tool.
That will be the pair of us then....thats a Dolmar screwdriver in mine :D

At least yours are both from the same country, I could start an international scene with my set up, hahaha.

I ordered my screwdriver while searching 254 parts, must have been part of the kit like you say.
The gold flat one fits older Stihl 0 series saws. Think they had three different sizes, this being in the middle. I use it on 041's which were popular firewood saws here back in the day. Some people are still using them yet today, pretty tough old saws really. Here is one I fixed up and is in my antique fleet, an 041AV. Steve
