The way to tell the coil without having the saw in hand is the front top cover bolt. Dual coil, it's in front of the recoil bolt, single it's behind, compare this 266 to those 61's and you will see what I mean

Walt says the Hyway pop up kit runs decent.
I say they run good as well
The 372 bb popup kits 180s comp
I bought did
Other's had issue's high squish,flaking etc.
To much variation to recommend.

The piston looks like garbage in the kit I have. Figured I would throw it in my test saw and see what happens.

The single coil 61's use the same cover bolt pattern as the 268/272 and have the taller muffler, so can be easily converted to a 272 clone. The dual coil ones used the 266 pattern so are not directly interchangeable.
IIRC some of these also came in grey top with the newer front bolt placement.
I believe they also have the larger venturi carb and better performing cylinders than their predecessors.

I don't actually have a 61 top cover here, both of my 61 chassis are dual coil, but the 272 top end does fit under a 266 cover. I've built a couple of them now, keeping the 266 muffler.

Yah, I think all but the earlier 61 covers will clear with a 272 cyl.
By 'clone', I mean all the 272 parts go on, with top cover compatibility the whole muffler and intake system can go along with it.

I've heard that some of the two piece ign saws had enough extra material to drill/tap a hole for the newer covers but I haven't run into one myself.

That's another reason i don't recommend them
Never know what you get.
They have different cylinder finish options
Now
Pricier of course.

395xp cranks, are they all the same, I know the fly wheel had a change to a moulded flywheel key, will a flywheel with a moulded key fit a crank that's made for a loose key?

395 crank has the key in the flywheel. 394 crank has the woodruff type key. The flywheels do not interchange.

Don't know anything about this series. But, I do know it runs like a champ now. Pretty strong. Just not entirely sure what it is. No badge or numbers anywhere. I picked it up with another 65L. Needed the usual and to swap a couple things over to make it complete.

Does anyone have an idea at what this clutch is? And what saws it fits?
