Question for those who know what they are talking about. I have a couple of 372's oe and a couple of 61's an orange top and a black top. My question is are there any real gains by putting a BB52mm kit on the 372's, and the same with the 61's or am I just better off giving all 4 a birthday and give them a quick hone and chuck a new ring at each of them?
Can't comment on the 61's but the 372 will benefit from slightly raising the transfer extensions and a base gasket delete/muff mod.
That said I do have a 52mm Hyway kit here that I'm going to throw on my test saw at some point. I got it absolutely dirt cheap back before all this IH stuff started. Just something to mess around with, certainly wouldn't rely on it for daily use.

Can someone enlighten me on how to read a Husqvarna seven digit serial number. I have a Model 51 that a guy gave me as a parts saw for my 55 Rancher. There was really nothing wrong with the 51 except starter pawls we broken or missing and several screws missing.

Early Seven Digit Black Tag: (Up Until 1998/99):

1st number = last number of decade built between 1987 & 1998
2nd/3rd number = week of year built
4th,5th,6th,7th = unit number built that week

That 51 is the 3775th one built the 45th week of 1996.

Thanks! I thought it was something like that but not sure of the date range.

Stick with the 50mm oem on the 372
Unless you find the xpw cylinder kit.
On the 61 I actually prefer the oem 266xp
Topends but the 268/272 are fine runner's.
I don't hone i use scotchbrite and for
Transfer i use emery cloth on a mandrel.
A good muffler mod will help a lot.

The china kits have to much variation to
Recommended.
I have some very strong running hyway bb 372
Popup kits and huztl 372 kits.
I bought hyway last year 50.00 a kit shipped
But now there have been complaints of peeling
And bad fit and finish.

I have had decent luck with Hiway's 272 cylinders, only the more expensve Ni coated ones though.

Be aware that there are 3 different 266 cylinders, but only 2 Mahle numbers to make it good and confusing...

Just took apart a 394 recoil. Is this thing missing a drop in bushing between the SS pin tower and the rope rotor?

If someone was to try a 52mm bb on a 365/372 are there any that are known to at least be worth looking at?

I'll have it in the next few days so I'll find out if it's single coil or not.

Interesting to see a silver tag with what appears to be the same format as the early black tags. From what I've read over the years, the silver tags ended in '87 and were replaced by the 7 digit black tags until 98/99. That Koper tag is clearly an exception to the general rule. The orange top cover and stickers should also have been a giveaway, but they're obviously also easily replaced and may not have been original. The coil should be the clincher.
