That particular 346 is one of the best looking saws Husky ever made. The current 500 series has odd contours to my eyes, also the silver crankcase looks like they forgot to paint it.
And that one has the flippy caps too :b1:.
I also prefer the all orange saws for cosmetics, but like the grey orange for performance, I also like the primer bulbs.
I ran a tank thru this ne last week, it's bone stock not even a muffler mod.

As I remember, Husky made a 346 for a brief time that was identical to the 550 except for name. Mebbe they weren't sure if people would accept the new name?

I'm a sucker for the 3 series but I do like the 5's. They are some of the smoothest cutting saws I've ever run.

The Husky website is where I saw it. I remember thinking to myself: "why did they keep the old model number after such a thorough redesign?" Maybe it was a mix up during the transition period, a picture of the 550 with the description of the 346?
I'm thinking you saw the silver side cover on a 346 NE, they're no silver case or AT on any 346. Or they just had a pic of 550 with the wrong disruption.[emoji111]

At the same time, I can't help but think I have seen a pic of a 346 with "Autotune" on the recoil sticker where "X-Torq" usually is. Maybe it was an R&D model? Or maybe it was just some AS scuttlebutt?

It must have been special, no xtorq 346's either.

47A760E3-7AFE-441D-A11D-A840D455C546.jpeg This never happens! I went into the local a Husqvarna shop to order some parts. Specifically the plastic engine covers for the 338XPT (cleaner of the two) and while the gal was looking them up the tech hauled ass for the back like they might have them in stock .......
and comes out with this 335XPT. Says you want it, take it! Says he thinks it runs, just doesn’t oil. Pretty cool:)
