it will probleby never be a perfect hit, but for those who have lost the serial tag, crankshaft serial may be vital information. .....
....
Here is another one, 340SG, serial 5031216, crankshaft 85 02
.....
....
I guess I will pull the jug to the 133 and 40 in a few weeks to see if this is close match to serial's lol
that is actually a good question, it may be a pure frankenstein saw hahaha.Does that saw actually say 340 on the number tag? It sounds very unlikely that a 340 was made that late, so I suspect a "frankensaw"? The last 340 IPL was dated 1978-08, and the model was replaced by the 444 early 1980, as far as I know.
I wished you had never seen those small Huskies I was done with, now I have to pull thge jugs on themBig surprise there!
@SawTroll I think you have correct, it's not an 340, it has to be an 44,444 bottom part with an 240/340 top end.
I did study the Workshop manual today but it didnt show that coil was changed around 84, first when I study IPL's I saw that the coil I have fit perfect into that picture.
we learn as we live I guess. I am not so familiar with 44/444, never hunted after them. I got them because I wanted to steal their PTO bearingAs far as I know, only the 44 and likely the 444 as well were current models in that family by early 1985. I'm not sure when they stopped making the 444, but the last IPL was dated 1984.

we probleby have the same WS, and if it was made by Husky we should know they are not accuracy lol.The WS manual I have is dated 1987 - but that likely is the year it was scanned from paper format, and not the year it was written.
I sense a crazy hybridOn the bench now is an Ms 460 getting a meteor p/c ported and my 661 Jug i got back from machining.
Interesting transfers on this one. The mains open on angle 3* before the secondaries which also open on angle. Im gonna play with this one a bit to figure out what I want.View attachment 17311

it's not super rare in Norway & Sweeden, but there isnt many nice ones left. How collectable is the 444SG
