Those who hate proprietary stock have also forgotten that they are a part of making a slim chainsaw body.
At least I know what I like to have in my hands the few times I cut firewood

I hate proprietary bearings.
I think every pro Stihl saw has had one proprietary bearing in them for as long as I can remember. Granted it’s usually just a common size bearing with the outer race clearanced for a seal but still not common ofc shelf. The 042/048 bearing is non existent anymore but I’m tempted to buy a bearing and have my uncle try to machine or grind the clearance in the race.

Husqvarna has had proprietary bearings since the mid 70's, first I know of is the 340SE/SG. Continued with that bearing on the old 40, 44, 444, 133, 234, 238, 242, 42, 246. Although most had metal cages, they already tested plastic cages on the 133 back in 1980.

The first with nylon cages was on the 351, and they continued with that bearing on the 346, 550, 562 and more.

Some would say that the nylon cage is a weakness, nowadays it's probably peek they use, but after almost 30 years in practical use on so many models.....if they were as weak as some think, Husqvarna would have been bankrupt donkey years ago.

This thread has gone the way of so many on the forums. This saw has not even been released to the states, ran by few across the pond and has been picked a part and has been labeled already. And of course turned into Husky 500 series bashing thread. It’s amazing as big of piece of junk they are that Husky is still selling them, people are still buying them and still developing new technology with this 564.

Same thing is happening on Facebook. About the only place where a new model isn't continually bashed is Youtube - there you just get inexperienced users swooning over "new tech".

As someone who also works on saws for a living, I wish Husqvarna had made more changes to the bottom end to separate it more from the 562's issues. I don't see anything particularly wrong with that. It would be a little like if GM released a new 5.3L to get away from lifter problems, but kept the valve train exactly the same. I wish it the best though--I'm sure it will be a nice operators saw.
I probably got wordier than was warranted without any firsthand experience with a 564 yet. I'll accept that criticism gladly.

Some girls faint over Michael Jackson

The 564 fervor is real. I acutually fainted on my first attempt to pre-order the 564. For just a moment, I pictured that electronic fuel injector pulsating and spraying a mist of fuel and chainsaw noises and spruce limbs scraping my nipples and I just hit the fkn ground.

There lies the problem, no first hand experience and already have an opinion formed on it. As do most post anymore. It’s usually all 3rd party and gets exaggerated a little more every time it gets told.

yes. not enough torque or how we call it (drehmoment) for 3/8, but i'm overall not a fan of 3/8 chain on 60ccm saw's.
I think 3/8 with actual "narrow kerf" chains like C83/C85/EXL is fine on a 60cc saw.

After 2 weeks running the saw 8hours/day with "20 3/8, I won't change the setup.

Of course, you can't go crazy low on the rakers like you could with bigger saws, but the 564 theorical peak power is at 10.2K rpm, much higher than a 562. And that's the way it's supposed to be used. Of course, you need a good sharpened chain.

And I think there's something else behind this saw and the way it's build. There's some recent studies in EU pointing vibrations issues on almost every professionnal saws. Measured vibrations are almost always way higher than expected, and I think the 564 is build to fix this.

Also, these studies shows some clear relations between rpms and vibrations, with of course less vibrations on high rpm.

That's one of the most imoressive thing with the 564, we tried it against the 400.1 and the difference in vibrations is outstanding.

This too was mentioned in Scott's video.

Your observation goes back to a conversation I had with a pro working the local forests a few years back.

Basically health is #1, he will not run a saw older tham a decade due to the antivibe advancements.

It's pretty normal for threads to go this direction.

proprietary bearings + outboor clutch = Husqvarna 50-60cc.
Hate it or like it, that's how a Husqvarna is.

I know I'm picking mine up on Monday, hopefully the handle has arrived too.
