Guys, I've never laid hands on the saw in question. I Probably never will.
But please allow me a moment to grumble off some of why I have my feelings about Proprietary parts.
Run into these things on Friday or Saturday repairs and it gets a bit more frustraing when you find out the only vendor for this group of countys is out of stock, or closed for the weekend or just closed up for good.. Campers and mobile home needs.
Spend a few years working across a range of repair work and you'll likely come to have that reflexive contempt for things that deviate from what are/were generally considered to be "industry norms".
Tecumseh and Roper building bastardized units for Sears/Craftsman.
Camper trailers having odd sized plumbing/drain lines.
Oddball electrical connectors, when there is room and environmental conditions that would be very well served by some catalog common Amphenol product or other standard item.

with apologies, I'll shut up here.

won't say much more about Proprietary crank bearings in this thread, I sound like the world's biggest fan boy.

A few years ago I measured the cranks.....

Old style:
254/262 - 147mm
357 - 142mm

Something in between:
346 - 133mm
242 - 127mm

Modern:
550/560 - 122mm

Now I don't know how the rest of you prefer a saw body, as an all-rounder for tree felling and limbing..

Buying the 564xpg wasn't my original plan, I wanted an upgraded 562, which came with the mark II. Since I'm a bit slow, the 564 was released before I had time to buy the 562 mkII.

I rarely buy chainsaws, and the antivibration specs on the 564 are very promising, and my elbows are pretty bad.

That's the main reason I ordered it, and let others go, like the 254 and 262, 560.

Kept 242's/246’s, 346's, 357 and a 372.. Feels like the 564 fits in nicely with the ones I've kept.
