Husqvarna rep in today. New saw, new battery. These run the new X battery. BLI200x and BLI300x. Better Venting and fan assist cooling. The regular battery will work but are said to be prone to overheating.

By no means am I or Justin skilled cutters but you get the picture.

lol@Justin's sawing stance...

Years ago, I taught a session of S-212 to a class of law enforcement officers with the U.S. Forest Service and Bureau of Land Management. Several of them had that
same sawing stance, like they were getting ready to squat 700 pounds...

I think these new battery-powered saws are going to be a weiner. My arborist buddy is already running the 1gen 540i and I'm planning on buying one of these
second gens. I'm assuming the kit comes with the battery and charger?

I might sound like a salesman spitting out all this information. I’ve got no dog in the hunt. That being said, I definitely didn’t see the battery saw beating a lightly modded 201.

The battery saw seems to have the performance in the cut, time will tell how long the batteries will last (how many charge cycles). At $1k though for everything, I'll need to wear out my
gas saws first before investing in this set-up.

The price is a bit of a turn off considering batteries only have a limited lifespan and they are 2-300$. But the performance is definately acceptable. $1k is a LOT for a little saw, my last rear handle MS201 was under $600usd.

Agreed. There’s a significant start up cost.

The tree service I work at has a bunch of the battery powered equipment. Approximately 20-25 pieces. Pole saws, Hedgetrimmer, and climbing saws. The guys love them and they have been incredibly reliable. The few times I’ve had an issue, husky without question, has covered it under warranty.

All components have a two year commercial warranty. I’ve made claims for a pole Hedgetrimmer, two batteries and two chargers on separate occasions, and the claims were approved in hours, literally.

most of the equipment is .5-1.5 years old and the oldest climbing saws are approaching 3 years old.

I bought a little 18volt Makita top handle saw. It's mostly gutless. Kind of a step up from a handsaw. What I like about it though is no pull staring. That's where it's at with theses saws. The pull starting is eliminated. For a th saw in the tree this is kind of a big deal. I'm frequently pull starting a th saw in an awkward position. The battery saw is a game changer in that regard. I'm very interested in the new th husky battery saw and will be watching how guys like them on a semi long term basis. Probably pull the trigger on one if the price comes down a bit.

We're just beginning a relationship with Husky at our shop and the battery stuff looks interesting. Had a long conversation with the sales rep this week about the products and will get more in depth again in the coming week.

I feel like the battery stuff is going to be a tough sell to folks who aren't used to it, but really it should be a no brainer for professionals if the performance is on par. You just have to approach the idea differently.

How much fuel/oil/engine maintenance costs would you use in the lifetime of a machine?

Only a couple tune-ups plus the costs of fuel and oil would usurp the cost of a battery. Pay a dealer to rebuild the fuel system one time on something and a battery doesn't sound too bad.

Batteries are also great on the consumer end. Those occasional use machines are a constant source of turmoil for customers because they don't perform the maintenance on gas powered equipment. It should be a no brainer for them as well. Especially when you look at the split-boom type machines. A little extra start up, but very low maintenance costs overall. If they can find a way to begin to perfect the batteries for longevity and convince the consumer of such it would be a home run.

I can say that they do have their place for sure. i bet the torque between the two is night and day.

should try cutting half way on both saws and then stop, and without lifting the bar give it full gas.
Same goes for the first cut.

Have a waiting list for guys to buy the T540ixp kits. They shipped the saws 3 weeks ago. Now if they would only be so kind as to ship the chargers I'd be able to sell them. :)
