By no means am I or Justin skilled cutters but you get the picture.
Kit= Powerhead, bar, and chainlol@Justin's sawing stance...
Years ago, I taught a session of S-212 to a class of law enforcement officers with the U.S. Forest Service and Bureau of Land Management. Several of them had that
same sawing stance, like they were getting ready to squat 700 pounds...
I think these new battery-powered saws are going to be a weiner. My arborist buddy is already running the 1gen 540i and I'm planning on buying one of these
second gens. I'm assuming the kit comes with the battery and charger?
30-40 cuts it was still 3 out of 4 bars on the battery level. Now show me a video after 15 minutes of continuous cutting
Agreed. There’s a significant start up cost. The price is a bit of a turn off considering batteries only have a limited lifespan and they are 2-300$. But the performance is definately acceptable. $1k is a LOT for a little saw, my last rear handle MS201 was under $600usd.
I bought a little 18volt Makita top handle saw. It's mostly gutless. Kind of a step up from a handsaw. What I like about it though is no pull staring. That's where it's at with theses saws. The pull starting is eliminated. For a th saw in the tree this is kind of a big deal. I'm frequently pull starting a th saw in an awkward position. The battery saw is a game changer in that regard. I'm very interested in the new th husky battery saw and will be watching how guys like them on a semi long term basis. Probably pull the trigger on one if the price comes down a bit.Agreed. There’s a significant start up cost.
The tree service I work at has a bunch of the battery powered equipment. Approximately 20-25 pieces. Pole saws, Hedgetrimmer, and climbing saws. The guys love them and they have been incredibly reliable. The few times I’ve had an issue, husky without question, has covered it under warranty.
All components have a two year commercial warranty. I’ve made claims for a pole Hedgetrimmer, two batteries and two chargers on separate occasions, and the claims were approved in hours, literally.
most of the equipment is .5-1.5 years old and the oldest climbing saws are approaching 3 years old.
