I was able to save the cylinder and ordered a new 45mm Meteor. Have to admit, im a little anxious, ive grown to like 40 to 50cc firewood saws.

Finished it up this eve. Cleaned up nice for a free saw. Cuts well but needs new chain. Its on its way.

Damn that’s nice. I’m a sucker for these with the ported 346 top end. Power to weight is awesome.

So the oem piston was dished not domed. Meteor was flat top. Did that increase compression mildly? Or did they shorten the piston a smidge?

Turned out nice! Price was right. I'll still take me that 300 straight six! Fuel mileage and performance in the toilet but a bulletproof workhorse. Had a bunch when I was younger. Sadly they're all rotted away in the northeast. First truck I plowed snow with as a kid was 300ci manual trans hahaha. Good old days.
