If it will run on choke I would double check that fuel line their is something not right their it might be pinched at the grommet
I hate to pull it but I may have to.

I'm gonna pull the carb and check the meter height. While I have it off I guess I will do a vac test. For peace of mind. I've never had a saw with this much compression. This thing is wearing me out trying to diagnose it. I need to check the fuel filter and fuel line also, Make sure it's not blocked or kinked.

One things for sure this thing may have put me off from wanting another 190+ compression saw.

Of course I say that till I get her running. Lol

Any more when I buy a project saw that isn't running or not running properly I just order a carb kit along with anything else it may need. I did that with the 930 I just did and sure enough rebuilt the carb since it wouldn't tune once I had it running. Needle tip was rock hard.

The needle is supposed to be brand new. Why they didn't kit it I don't know.

Ok went to the dealer and bought a carb kit for $8 everything included. Gonna go ahead and rebuild it. One thing that I have a concern with is to me the high idle doesn't seem to engage. It will lock on in the handle but if you watch where the rod meets the carbit just sets against it and doesnt appear to move. first of all there is a 1/2 inch gap between the rod and carb at idle and where the throttle lock on the handle looks a little loose. Is there any adjustment to the throttle rod.

However the rod does take it to the WFO position. So it's not so out of play that it won't work. it just seems funky to me.

First is at idle second is at high idle. It barely touches it. I'm currently in the middle of a vac and pressure test and am about to pull my eyeballs out. I cant find a leak anywhere with soapy water, I have removed the tank to see if it's the case gasket. It won't hold pressure. Next step is to dunk it. I'm hoping it's my seal job on the intake and exhaust. And not the saw itself.

Also I am not sure if this will fix it or not when I removed the tank the throttle rod is held in place with a metal rod and it had slipped out in one side. When I put it back together I will let you guys know.

I've gotta go dig out a limestone rock at my house so I can get my underground electric hooked up before they switch lines and I'm in the dark. So I'll be back soon.

Take a good check around the outside of the oil pump body.....I just had a cutomers 288 here that had recent work at our Husky dealer including crank seals....They didn't put the o-ring back on the oil pump when they put it back together.....Crazy vac leak!

As Redfin said …you could have worn linkage or the geometry of things have changed . It looks good when you have it on idle but if the throttle pall isn't coming off the idle screw then its no good to you under start procedure.
Have seen several sorts of white and black plastic on the throttle pall , could be yours is worn a bit or missing a sleeve.
