That's good to hear. In those pictures I had already honed it a bit with sandpaper on a dowel with the drill. There's still a couple of bits of transfer to remove.
This is what mine looked like when I found it at the dump sitting next to the what was there of the power head...I think the dirt left a decent hash marks on the cylinder wall :p

I remember when you first posted that. Still got to be one of the best dump scores!

Ok, broke my rope on the beast so I replaced the rope. My recoil does not want to rewind and some times I pull and it seems to miss all the pawls. New spring? New recoil? Thoughts?

Have you taken it apart to see if the spring is sheared or not? I have had a few saws that I got where they would not recoil and it was either due to a broken spring or too much gunk build up around the spring. Sometimes the inside end of the spring deforms and doesn't catch in the pulley. If the pawls are worn then they may occasionally miss when you pull. Take it apart and post some pics, we might see something that is out of place.

Not trying to be cheeky (just mentally checking off what you did or did not do), but when you replaced the rope, did you wind the rope around the pulley three times and then wind the spring three times?
