So if you block that hole off they will rev higher . Would that be bad for them or will they handle it

I wasn’t there firsthand-worked left coast off & on ‘04-‘18-but apparently it was real common thing in the day, so to speak. The ones I’ve ran with them disabled have had them disabled since the 1980s and they’re still running. A 2100 will still lug down to 9000 in wood, it just helps limbing/other quick twitch stuff where you need to keep chain speed up. That said, it takes a strong man to limb with a 2100. I’d take every bit of help I could get.

Edit to potentially save the chainsaw: None of that means it’s smart to wind that saw up 10 13,000 RPM or so. That governor is supposedly set at 10,500 and there’s no real need to go a lot higher than that.

My 2100 was an ebay deal that i'm very happy with although it
is a som *b-word to pull over and a very strong runner. I have heard
that the 2100's have a smaller recoil pulley which makes it harder
to pull over.
Speaking of which I've been playing with my new comp gauge and taking comp readings .My 2100 was 165 but it felt like over 200 PSI .I've heard around 160 is standard on these things .So I can guess it's most likely not modified . 200T blew about 155 which is modified but of course it's a little rascal not like pulling over 99 cc's .

I realize this thread has been inactive for a while, however I want to say thank you to everyone who has contributed so far. A couple of weeks ago I found a partial 2100cd with a broken rear handle at the dump. What was there is still solid (except the rear handle) and I wanted to get it running again. Parts seem to be hard to come by and what is on e-Bay is a bit pricey due to limited availability of parts. I was looking to see if any other Husky saws had suitable-substitute parts that could be used. I asked on another forum, but just got crickets...no replies. Finally after doing a bit more searching on-line, I came across this thread looking for an alternate muffler and carb options...and bingo, found 34 pages of options!

Here is the unit I found and am working on:

2100cd_cylinder.jpg

The piston and cylinder had minor scoring on the intake side and the sand that was in the cylinder left a nice cross-hatch pattern. I got everything cleaned up and seated the cylinder and found that the unit does spark. I have a chain-brake and a fuel tank on order. The air filters I saw on e-Bay were going for about $100...so looking for an alternate. Since I don't have the top cover, looking to possibly do a K & N type filter setup I saw earlier in this thread. I am also looking to find a muffler, possibly even one from a different saw (380/90 series that may mate up) and modify if needed.

Again, thanks to everyone who has contributed to this thread, there is a wealth of information here about the 2100cd and getting them running again!!

@Duke Thieroff has air filter top covers made up that work great for your saw.
Try contacting @Daserlon and/or @EvilRoySlade for used factory parts.

Has anyone repaired a tank that has started to separate?
Evidently you cannot weld these cuz the glue melts, opening the joint further. So, what to do.
The tank is otherwise in good shape and was JB'd at some point. I ground off the epoxy , cleaned out the joint and can approximate the halves with a clamp.
I'm wondering about drilling a through-hole or similar to pull the halves together and then seal everything.
Thoughts?1000003439.jpg1000003442.jpg1000003446.jpg1000003444.jpg1000003451.jpg

Yeah, when I found this out I was kind of bummed by limited options. Hopefully someone who has repaired one will be able to shed some light. Replacement tanks are not cheap and most have other problems with them too.
