Last I checked a Oregon 2100 clutch was still available. I bought mine, didn't run the spur sprocket

288/394/395 clutch is a better design than the original 2100 clutch and goes on with no modifications. The clutch drum is the same for all of them.

I was messing about with my 2100 tonight and noticed the the inside bottom tip of the chain that rides in the bar groove was oddly worn on one side.
I found that the 394/395 clutch and rim sprocket drum I have fitted doesn't quite let the chain align with the bar groove properly.

I will have to work out this alignment issue before I can use it for milling.
This would also be sapping power and would explain the performance not impressing me as much as expected.

Yep, found a 2mm dependency between an OEM clutch drum and the one I have.
Its an old GB one that their site no longer lists.
I think it will go in the bin and I will chase a different one

My 44 was the same here last week. I found that fitting a spike like a bar plate gave proper alignment on that saw. Works good so I'm running it.

As far as drives, mine has an 8 tooth rim and a 32" .It certainly doesn't have a problem pulling full comp, buried .In case nobody mentioned it those saws have some ballz even in stock form.

After thought while it's on my mind. That rotten fuel line.

Clean that tank, pressure wash it or whatever you need to do,then do it again . If you don't I can assure you you will get very familiar with your carb because it will suck right passed the line filter and plug the carb screen < voice of experience here . I must have had mine apart half a dozen times .

It turns out that my 2100 running a rim sprocket clutch drum will only center the chain with the bar if I run it with no bar plate fitted.
I have tried it with the original clutch and other brand rim sprocket clutch drum and I get the same.
It had no bar plates when I got it, and was also running a spur sprocket.

I was thinking about taking some material off one side of the rim to allow it to center the chain with the bar slot?

Thoughts?

Why not just run it without bar plates? Mine has none either.

One of you guys had better buy that thing. My wife will rip me apart if I buy another 2100, especially one that wouldn't get run!
