She sounds pretty lean. Good idea on not making another cut.
I had it fired before and piss revved it a lil bit but that was the first cut I made and got it good and warm. It needs a little more fuel on the low and a fuzz more on the high

For sure! Its funny how a freash build can be garage tuned. Then u set it in some wood and wow its not even close. I dont remember it that was a fresh build or not but im sure you will have it spot on in short order.

Usually it's a task to drop start one of those things . About like rope starting a Harley .Although they say the thin ring version is a bit less taxing .

This is the 395 piston version I believe. I'm pretty sure it's not a thin ring.

I drop start all my saws 090 and 088 too

I drop start my 090 left handed.... With a 25" bar, not the 50"
Funny thing is I cant even drop start my 026 right handed and I am right handed
I think it's easier to drop start with a long bar. Just set the bar tip on a log

I plan to get some chains spun up for mine tomorrow.
I have converted my 30" bar from 404 to 3/8 and have a few 98 dl chains I see on my 066 that need 2 more links added to make them fit.
Also getting some of the 10* ripping chain joined up so I can get it milling

Yeah mate AM spikes.
I have the OEM inner spike but wanted duals.

That chain brake cover is off a 2101.
I took the one off my 2100 with a mostly working chain brake to preserve it and it doesnt have the outer spike holes drilled and I didnt want to drill it

I picked up an outer spike for mine, it came in today so I'll see it tonight. Mine isn't drilled either. Dad said he never ran a brake because it was a nuisance. I guess by the time my uncle fell with it they had to have a brake so he put a brake on it. Dad said the mill wanted the wedge cut on the stump so the outside spike was a necessity. He also said he never ran a full wrap because he lost 2" to stumpage. I like that chain catcher, I'll build one on the lathe.

I need to drill my outer cover. Is there an oem outer dog that matches? Or do ya just have to get AM?

The outer am dog did not match the OEM dog that was on the saw.
I just got the pair from the cheapchainsawparts guy on evilbay

Already had the holes for a chain catcher and the Stihl catcher fit nice once I spaced it over with a couple washers.

Will work better than nothing, I get nervous running a saw without one
