Look at the handlebar real closely. It ain’t supposed to be over the oil cap... 
Yeauuup I dropped a tree on it. Rotten soft maple broke off the hinge and I bailed outta there. Wasn’t worth my life for the saw. After we lifted the tree off with the doosan, I fired it up and finished the day with the fugged handlebar (it was bent/smushed pretty badly, worse than the picture shows) and a minor cosmetic mark on the starter cover which was the only visible damage the saw sustained. Which was very surprising since 7 - 800 pounds of maple fell directly on it. It was mortifying to see the saw under the tree lol. I don’t know if I’m more surprised if I’m still alive or if the saw is still alive. 
Bob spike60 hooked me up with a handle and she is good as new. Thanks Bob! It was also time for a new fuel filter... so that was done as well.

Be careful out there Mason, glad there was no major damage. A handle is no big deal to fix or replace.

It was hard to ignore the wrap kit... it is very affordable and has other goodies in it. I just can’t stand wraps for the cutting we do, they get in the way most of the time. Some times it is nice to have a wrap and I do see why west coast guys like them.

I will add that when the ported 572xp was out of commission I used a Ms460 and a 365 special. Both were ported. I thought both would be quite comparable but that wasn’t the case. The 572 in plain words had more power. It took me by surprise... as the 572 is very friendly to run and you underestimate it. Smooth saw. You get used to it. I was getting pinched a lot more with the other two saws since I was used to the 572’s very very flat forgiving torque curve. The other two weren’t no kittens either, they were strong. Which is why it surprised me. I was wanting my 572 back by the third day lol. I also realized how spoiled I was with the autotune as well not having to carry the little orange screwdriver around and waste time tuning. The fuel mileage is also great with the 572, especially compared to the 460.

I still think the original 50mm 372, 046 magnum and original 7900 dolmar red top were some of the pinnacle achievements for older 70cc class saws before the epa stepped in. But I think the 572 is the future saw of the next generation. If that makes sense?

How much louder is that muffler mod? Looks almost like a straight pipe effect.

Does a muffler mod make a big difference to the power on the 572. I'm looking at getting one (or 2 ) for myself

Anyone can open up the baffle from the cylinder side of the muffler quite easily for a basic muffler mod. Not difficult to do at all. I went a bit further on 572 #2 and completely gutted it and had a larger deflector welded on (screen still used). This is what that one sounds like...

The stock muffler baffling is actually a pretty ingenious setup, it has lots of holes in it. It doesn’t run as hot as a 562 and its not as bad as some mufflers I’ve seen. Which is why the gain isn’t huge like some saws.
