My hands are quite sensitive to vibration I really couldn't tell much difference, maybe the husky is a little smoother. Each saw will be slightly different, and chain plays a big role too. Stihl spring AV saws tend to have a higher frequency type vibration, the 572 more low thumping. So I guess it depends what affect you more. IMHO most all spring AV saws are smooth.

First things first, lay off the motion lotion (lol just a joke) 462 or 572 would do you fine. The vibrations on both are nearly nul, the 462 is a touch lighter.
I’ve heard it all, switch hands but I have it in both....hopefully after surgery back to normal.

Ouch ... I had it in both elbows a few years ago … after I split 15 cord by hand … purchased a hydro splitter and took it easy for a while and it cured.

Also, I found that if I straightened my arm and opened and closed my hand, turning the wrist both ways as much as I could, that seemed to help me recover.

Best of luck with it!

Yes, I do know better than to bring this up but...………..

Why are we constantly measuring the 572 with the 462 yardstick in this thread? I really don't get it. I agree that everyone should run what they like and that there are many different parameters we all consider when choosing a saw. But it seems like every time a point is made about the 572 we get some kind of , "Yeah, but the 462" response.

Should I get the V6 or the 2.5 turbo 4 in the new Jeep? I think the 6 would be less peaky in low gear crawling, but the 462...….

Do you like relish or green olives in your egg salad? Well, I sort of like the olives myself, but the 462....

Who's your favorite, the Beatles or the Stones? Well, I'm totally into the Beatles, but the 462...…………..

Just having fun fellows. :)

I guess it's the more you pay for a saw the more you expound its virtues.

How have you been doing Bob? Business going well?

Hey, it's not just the 462 guys have to talk about their saws, but when a 572 guy compares it to a 462 it does generally trigger a response. That is kinda normal on a chainsaw website! At least we are talking about saws and not other stuff!

And even though I don't plan on getting a 572 I think they are darn good saws and I like reading what folks that have them have to say about them. If I were running a long bar all day long out in the woods I would choose one over a 462. But the reality is 90% of the trees I cut don't need more than a 20" bar, so my needs are different than some other folks. Nothing wrong with that.

I guess it's the same reason I've always favored 044/440s over 046/460/461s. Not that I don't like having a ported 460, but it is not going to be my everyday saw.

I believe part of the reason for all the debate is that it is unusually for two saws of the same size to be so different, each one having it's own positive (or negative) attributes, making direct comparisons almost meaningless. They are not, IMO, interchangeable like most saws of the approximate same size are.

Hope there is no hurt feelings and everyone has a good day. I am pleased that both companies are introducing new, quality products that fit people's needs.

Some of these comparisons are useful. Actually, I think of the 572 as a next-generation ms460, my go-to saw; both are rugged, have lots of torque, and are dead-reliable, from everything I've read. Add better fuel economy, filtering, vibration control, auto-tune, etc., etc.

Yes, a great way to look at it. Some of the attributes of the 572 are better for some people... and some attributes of the 462 are better for others... people need to test and decide for themselves. You can’t believe everything you read online or see on youtube.

Oh God, no hurt feelings Mike. I just thought it was funny how it keeps going on page after page. Had to check the thread title to be sure where I was. :) That's why I was being silly myself. I actually agree with most of your points here. Especially the one about two saws of the same displacement being so different.

Business is off the charts busy. Population doubled with people escaping the city. Most were cool; some hilarious. Guy bought a saw last week. Showed him where the mix and chain oil go. Then he asks, "after how many hours should I change the oil?" Some of these folks might be safer staying in the city.

So, what do you think? Beatles or Stones? LOL

You found an ash without the bug? No more of them around here. They're just falling apart everywhere.
Yes anything standing is almost totally rotten. Good news I found one Blue Ash still healthy as could be, I believe they are resistant to the emerald ash borer.

It’s mostly white ash here. Sometimes you’ll see one that’s alive in a patch of all dead ones. I have to wonder if those are resistant. They say it’s best to just cut em all down so the borer has no food source and dies out. The hope is the seeds and young saplings regenerate. Not in my lifetime most likely! It’s sad really.
