I haven’t had fines yet (I think it’s related to that nasty dusty Doug fir bark you guys get), but I do wanna try one of those foam pre filters sometime. I think it would extend the life of the filter.
My 572 only has 15 tanks run through it, cutting a mix of fresh black cherry and dead dusty Ash. The filter definitely lets in fine dust, I would say so far that's the only thing I don't care for. Husky nerds to update the filter material it's not up the level of other manufacturers right now, 30 years ago it was the best out there.

That cylinder wall looks awfully thick, I wonder if there is a 372 XPW type cylinder in the works. Might have to pull the stuffers to get volume for a big bore cylinder.

How about the synthetic paper type, works for Stihl and my 7900 HD filter doesn't let a speck of dust in. In the past I've used K&N spray filter oil directly on the filters and it stopped the fines.
Those paper HD filters and filter neck on the 7900 kill the power in my experiences compared to the low top filter, not enough flow. Not as easy to clean or flow as well as a oiled foam filter. I’m surprised none of the manufacturers have come out with a oiled foam filter.

The 7900 filter does seem to hurt power a little, but dust doesn't seen to get impregnated in to the filter media much. The oiled filters work great but can be messy, and most likely wouldn't take care of them properly. The bigger issue with the 7900 HD setup was the pre-filter, it would clogged up in no time and you really couldn't clean it without soap and water. So far tye 7900 filter is the only one filter I've seen that doesn't let anything in, the Stihl 261 was a close second.

Wow, this thing responded well to porting it. It’s about the equivalent to a stock 390xp powerwise now I would say. Probably one of the best all around 70cc saws I’ve ran... stock, muffler modded or ported.

Hahaha! He knows I am testing for science and all lol. I usually try to test with junk or end cuts that were left over.

That's why I like the 572 so much more than the 462 for a work saw. It has excellent torque
I agree. 462 is as fast or faster no question and it is lite... but I felt it was lite on torque... felt like I was fussing with the chain more often than the 572 to keep it cutting well.

I wanna run a 572.

Keep telling my self I don't need to buy one...
Don’t expect much from it new and stock... till you get about a gallon of fuel thru it. The software apparently has a “break in” program. From my experiences it kinda makes it sluggish until it reaches a certain amount of hours.
