Hey, I have 2 ported 462s and they are rapidly becoming my favorite saws. One wears a 24" bar, one a light 20" bar. They are strong enough to buck (fast) anything those bars will handle, are light enough to use for limbing, have instant throttle response (also great for limbing) and good AV and clean filter tech. Plus, you don't need to carry a stupid little screw driver with you!

If I had to cut larger trees on a regular basis I may give the nod to a 572, but for felling, bucking and limbing trees that are usually less than 24" in diameter, IMO there is no better saw out there.

I used them both extensively both yesterday and today, and they are just what the Doctor ordered for the type of stuff I usually do.

I'm glad I have other saws, but if I had to pick only one saw, it would be one of my 462s.

Feel free to start a 462 thread Mr. Mike. No one is stopping you.

Hey, you got yourself some very special stuff over the last year yourself, looking forward to running you stuff at a GTG and vice versa!

Always fun to try different stuff, and there is no one size fits all.

That Echo/Stihl of yours seems to be way up there on the power to weight meter!

I'm very fond of the 462, I get to use a mildly modified one at work and it's a favorite.

Yes, the echo hybrid should really be exciting. It came in today and I'm stoked to try it. I've got a 24 or 28 to stuff on it.

Slight lack of torque is ok. Just don’t call it”peaky”. :eeeeek:
I was merely explaining the 462 torque curve is higher up and prefers a chain that is filed optimal for that. I would take a guess a increase in compression would help that greatly vs stock.
