Yes Sir! I worked on her, years ago when She IFE'd into McConnell AFB, KS on an unscheduled rest stop. I was a B-1B Crew Chief in the Air National Guard ATT, and was working alternate drill Weekend, sanding on a static display F-4 Phantom (66-271 Brig Robin Olds jet incidentally which retired in KS with the Guard, post-Vietnam) for repainting. She blew an overhead hydraulic line (ICL, or LCL perhaps, I forget now), and caused the crew to nearly bail getting fire-hosed in the cockpit, almost losing control of the bird.

They chose instead to land at McConnell in a last ditch manner, on a closed aerodrome. I marshaled them in after landing and when the crew ladder came down, so did a stream of hyd fluid. The crew came down the steps doused in fluid and white as ghosts due to how close they came to punching out. It spent nearly 8 months at MAFB, requiring a depot team and our maintainers to help get her back to flight status.

I wasn't aware that she'd been retired, until I saw her at the air park, while on a break from an AF ISR conference. I had to pet her for a minute and sit there and laugh. 20 years in now, and aircraft that I wrenched on are already retired...

Nice! I'm AF ISR now, and have been to the SCIFs near your hangars quite a few times. That dining hall near the hangars isn't the worst I've ever visited... I do love the Pawn, Bait, Gun and Tackle Store down the road though!

My shop is in hangar 83, and we have hangars 82 and 81...housing 10 C-17’s under roof at all times. Albeit right now, two EC-8 JSTARS occupy two of our 10 docks. Yeh the base restaurant serves up some pretty decent groceries.

Chuck’s...best prices on firearms in middle Ga. They won’t be undersold by nobody. Have bought countless firearms from there over the decades. As well as a few bows.

In two weeks we have a rabbit hunt coming up by me. It’s actually a fundraiser for cancer benefits. I’ve hunted plenty on deer, ducks, turkey, pheasants... never rabbits. Just looking for a few pointers. I got 2 boxes of 12 gauge in 5 shot. Some tell me to use a .22 and some say a shotgun. We will be a group of 4 guys and no dog.

Either one will get the job done, .22 being a heap more challenging. If you go the scatter gun route, be mindful those pellets that you don’t get out can be hell on the teeth when you eating ‘em. I’m sure you’ve shot enough ducks, pheasants to know that though...

Yes always am mindful of the pellets. I always try and shoot lead free when I’m consuming the meat. But finding number 5’s was hard enough, much less finding it in steel or any other non toxic varieties.

Most guys around me run #6 shot for rabbits, I'm not nearly good enough to try a .22...unless I catch em in the garden mid summer lol

A buddy just bought one. I actually like shooting it, a lot, though I'm not very accurate with it. We may not have found an ammo that it likes though. For the money, I'd buy one any day of the week and twice on Sunday, over a heritage arms...
