Close friend at work had one out at his 17 acre ‘farm’. Allen’s dad.

The renter out there burned it up by warming it up with a fire under the oil pan one winter. [emoji37]

Updraft carb mounted low and seeped just a bit. [emoji2960]

We raised it from the dead with parts from, you guessed it!, Tractor Supply. Remember their catalog?

Rebuilt engine & new fuel tank and radiator. Pup ran like new.

Tip: Always have an over running clutch between the brush hog and the PTO. Otherwise the inertia from the mower will push you along when you want to stop.

Speaking of catalogs.

Built a Dodge 318 to replace the ‘57 Desoto hemi in my ‘53 Ford pickup. The Desoto made it feel like I had three circus fat ladies sitting on the front bumper and replacement parts were getting scarce. [emoji15]

Any how, I shopped the Sears, Wards and JC Penny catalogs for the engine internals. As all three had a catalog desk at the local mall.

Machine shop did the bore, valve seats and guides. The crank was still standard.

That el cheapo ran the best of any engine I rebuilt.[emoji15]

The front motor mounts from the Desoto fit perfect and just a minor modification to the trans (push button) crossmember.

The 727 (?) was lighter to boot.

I did have to scrounge up the column linkage as I had tossed it back when I put in the hemi.

Twenty or so years ago between the low winter flow and really cold weather, ice jams above Joetoewn caused the water treatment plant to shut down as they lost suction. Spent upwards of a week with no running water.

It’s been changed to sand point wells upstream ten miles so it won’t happen again.

We were melting snow on the stove so we could flush toilets.

I offered to dig a slit trench in the yard. [emoji847] No takers.
