But that ain't your problem.
Think chip clearance..
So what's the solution? Less aggressive angles?
I've just used the carbide bits on bars. Worked good enough for me.

Out of curiosity, what brand of chains were you using?Worked on a big oak today. I had a problem with the bar tips locking up. The 36" bar tip locked up; went to the 28" bar and it eventually locked up; went to the 25" bar and it locked up also. It took me 45 minutes, 75 cuss words, and a half gallon of sweat to get the 36" bar to turn again. One cut and she was locked up again. It is a big oak so the bar is buried on all bars. WTF am I doing wrong and is there a solution? I am ready to order all hard nose bars and tossing these in the trash.
Ok maybe I missed it but what is the reason to open up the bar oil hole bigger for the long bars?
